Description of the walk

Park near the church in Ouroux-en-Morvan.

(S/E) Head towards the Camping des Genêts, walk past it and look for a path junction.

(1) Take the path on the left between the fields and follow it to the left. Head down to the village of Les Poutières. Cross the village, turning right onto the D301. Cut across the hairpin bend to reach a crossroads of paths.

(2) Turn right onto this path and continue until you reach the junction of several paths at the Ruisseau de l’Oussière.

(3) Take the path on the right; shortly afterwards, leave the forest and turn left onto the D232. Leave this road very quickly by turning right to continue along the road leading to the hamlet of Huis Lardy.

(4) Leave the hamlet road on your right, continue straight ahead and follow the Ruisseau de l'Anguison. At a bend in the road, you will reach a crossroads of paths.

(5) Take this path on the left. Further on, you’ll come to the junction with the yellow-markedPR® trail. Turn left, then right twice at the following junctions, following the signs to reach the Chapelle du Banquet. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Morvan valley from here.

(6) Head back down the same way, keep right at thefirst junction and rejoin the yellow-markedPR® atthe second. Keep right on thePR® for a few metres until you find a new path in the circular route.

(7) Leave thePR® by turning left. Continue along a mostly flat section to reach the hamlet of Pierre Pendant.

(8) Turn left and continue down a gentle slope. You’ll come out onto a road; follow it for a few metres to the left. You’ll reach the junction with the D232 road.

(9) Leave the roads behind and head straight ahead onto the path that leads to the junction with the Oussière stream.

(3) Follow the route back in the opposite direction to the junction at the hairpin bend on the Route des Poutières.

(2) Turn right, then left to cross the hamlet. Head towards the Ecomuseum, turn left onto Route du Lac, then left again onto Rue du Marché to return to the car park at Ouroux-en-Morvan church (S/E).

It’s a pleasant walk, but one that was a bit tricky to follow: we set off from point 2 and, due to a lapse in concentration, ended up doing the route ‘backwards’ from point 3, heading towards 9, then 8 and 7, and the signposting wasn’t always clear. Note at point 7: ‘the place known as Pierre Pendant’ is just a crossroads. Between 7 and 6, it was lucky we had GPS as there are many paths and few markings in the forest, which made it harder to reach the chapel. Beautiful view (though in the rain); there are benches, but no shelter apart from the trees. On the way back, there’s quite a bit of road (2 km?), so in the end, we didn’t regret doing the route in this direction. We still enjoyed the walk.

This lovely, easy walk is well signposted. Simply follow the yellow markings, particularly in the forest. The route is marked in yellow throughout the forest. There’s a lovely view from the chapel, which has an orientation table.
