Cœuzon-Savelot station

The walk starts in front of the town hall in Ouroux-en-Morvan.

(S/E) With your back to the town hall, walk down Avenue Michel Baroin to the pond. Take the time to read the information panels. Continue until you reach a crossroads.

(1) Leave the road and continue straight ahead. At each junction, go straight ahead until you reach the road, the D12.

(2) Turn left, then right, and take the road towards Le Plessis. Leave the hamlet on your right and take the path on your left, going downhill.

(3) Turn right and follow the D412 with caution. Before that, take the time to stop at the Maquis Bernard memorial. Turn left, cross the bridge over the Chalaux and continue to Huis Guyard.

(4) Turn right, following the road through Savelot, and turn onto the road that climbs left towards Maquis Bernard. Continue along the road until you reach the hairpin bend on the left.

(5) Take the path directly opposite towards Chemin du Tacot, which you will find by turning left at the top, then right. You will arrive at a viewpoint overlooking the village of Savelot and a large part of the Chalaux valley.

(6) Continue and pass through several cattle grids, remembering to keep your dogs on a leash. You will arrive at Cœuson station.

(7) Turn right (at the station, take the path that goes uphill to Maquis Bernard) and go down to the road, then take the first path on your left, before the bridge over the Chalaux. When you reach the bridge/tunnel, you will see a replica of the Tacot locomotive. From the bridge tunnel, you have a beautiful view of the Chalaux valley.

(8) Turn right and you will come to a staircase. Take the stairs to go directly to the Chalaux. After climbing the stairs, take the Chemin du Tacot on the right. You will arrive at the Coeuzon wash house, where you can refresh yourself.

(9) Turn right, heading north-west. You have left Chemin du Tacot and continue diagonally south-west until you reach a road.

(10) You are now on a two-way road. Keep to the left so that motorists can see you. Turn right towards the pond. Leave the road and head towards the Étang d'Ouroux-en-Morvan, which you will walk alongside.

(1) Then cross the intersection. The pond's wash house is worth a visit. After your visit, continue straight ahead, still heading towards Ouroux-en-Morvan, passing in front of the old railway warehouse.

(11)You will find various information about the Chemin du Tacot. Continue and turn right. Pass in front of the old Tacot station on the Corbigny/Saulieau line. Turn left and pass in front of the kaleidoscope. Turn left again onto the D301 and pass in front of the bakery, which is open in the mornings in winter and during the day in summer. Keep left until you reach the town hall (S/E).

There is free parking available right next to the town hall.
As for the walk itself, normal walking gear should suffice.
A few important points to remember:

• in the second part of the route from the point (5) on Chemin du Tacot, keep dogs on a leash. When passing through the barriers that have been put in place, you will be entering fields where cattle may be grazing.
• Make sure your shoes provide good ankle support, as part of the Chemin du Tacot still has ballast on the surface. It is therefore advisable to have a walking stick and to ensure that your shoes are waterproof, as some parts of the Chemin du Tacot are crossed by springs, making the ground quite wet.
• Throughout the second part of the Chemin du Tacot route, you will find posts with QR codes (see photos), which provide additional information about the immediate environment.
