Start from the church car park in the village centre. Follow yellow signs. We start with the "Les rives du Petit Lac" hike.
(S/E) Leave the square and head for Vranlien. Go down the small road.
At the crossroads, turn right. Cross the farm and take the right-hand path out of the courtyard.
Turn left onto the D161. Continue along the road to the crossroads and take the track opposite Ferme de Charnoy. Don't go all the way to the farm, but take the path down to the right just before it.
(2) After the pond, continue straight on to Chassy. At the top of the square, take the road on the left, pass the old joinery and take the road on the right, first uphill, then downhill to the chapel.
(3) Turn left onto the D944 as far as the mill.
(4) At the bridge, turn right towards l'Huis Beaupied. Go up to the Rigole de l'Yonne.
(5) After the channel, turn right to the Pannecière bridge. Viewpoint over Lac de Compensation.
You can leave the hike to see the Lac de Compensation discovery trail. Just go down 100m.
(6) Go right towards Huis Mignault. At the fork, take the road to the right that leads under the dam.
Climb the narrow path through the woods. At the top, head for the dam and cross it. You can climb up to the lookout point. Return to the road alongside the holiday town. Take the small path on the left 20m before the entrance to the holiday town. The path descends along the lakeshore to Le Plat campsite.
(7) Take the uphill road to leave the banks and pass the gîte. Take the road to the left which continues to follow the lake.
Here we change trail. Now continue on "Les Rives de Pannecière".
The path climbs towards Vaux, leaving the lake behind.
(8) At the junction at the entrance to Vaux, turn right. Go up the road, then take a right under the houses at the hairpin bend. View of the lake and dam. At the end of the path, go uphill.
(9) At the junction of the D944 and the road to Vaux, cross the road and take the path between the two houses opposite. You might think you're entering someone's house, but it's the right path. Go downhill past the wash-house. When you reach the road, go straight ahead in the direction of: En Velle.
(10) At the calvary, turn right before the last farm. Pass a pond.
At the next junction, turn right to reach Maison Neuve. Drive past the manor house and up the road to the next crossroads.
Turn left onto the D161 to return to Montigny-en-Morvan.
