Le Pizou walks

This route combines history with nature: much of the walk follows the River Isle. Also worth visiting: the Coly forges, a testament to a major industrial and steel-making industry, and the Monument de la Plaine, a historic site from the Second World War.

This route takes you along the Isle river, using the footpath on the Pont de Ménesplet, Marcillac and Vauclaire bridges, passing by the Chandos leisure centre. The footpath is designed to provide continuous pedestrian access along a stream or river. This footpath, which follows the old towpath, allows you to immerse yourself in protected natural surroundings.

A trail in the heart of the Double Forest that winds through woods and paths, crossed here and there by a small stream. Ponds will appear as you walk along. A very shaded trail, ideal for families as there is little road.

Around the small village of Montpeyroux in the Dordogne, enjoy a beautiful bucolic hike in the forest and discover a rich historical heritage. At the start, you will discover the Château de Matécoulon and the Church of St-Pierre with its view of the Forest of Saint-Cloud.

The commune of Saint-Aigulin offers a superb hiking trail through the Double forest, its moors, ponds and village. Biodiversity abounds here, particularly in the summer months, with a heritage species: the European pond turtle. Numerous educational panels are available along the route to learn more about the local flora and fauna. Don't forget your camera!

This hike winds its way near the Château de Montaigne, located in the commune of Saint-Michel-de-Montaigne. It is a 14th-century fortified house that was the family home of the Renaissance philosopher and thinker Michel de Montaigne. The vineyard is part of the Bergerac appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC).

A lovely country walk through unspoilt countryside. Along the way, you will discover the Étangs de la Double ponds, which provide a wild and unspoilt refuge for animals. Take a break at the Cistercian Abbey of Notre-Dame de Bonne Espérance and enjoy the famous "Trappe Échourgnac" cheese.

Take this route on your mountain bike through the vineyards, which will lead you from the quays of Castillon-la-Bataille to Blasimon and its abbey. Finish this route at the Blasimon leisure centre.

Follow and admire the Dordogne from both banks as you pass through the villages and hamlets that surround it.

Starting from Saint-Ferdinand Church, discover the commune of Mouliets-et-Villemartin on this 11 km loop.

A gravel and sand track winds its way along the hillsides, which resemble small mountains. The dense forest cascades down the gentle slopes and stretches as far as the eye can see, accompanying walkers into a "wild wilderness".

Follow in the footsteps of Pierre Loti in the charming village of Flaujagues, where he used to visit his in-laws. Then, from the heights of Juillac, discover a breathtaking view of the Entre-Deux-Mers vineyards.

Just a few minutes from Saint-Émilion, this remarkable hamlet has many surprises in store. A lodge for pilgrims on the Way of St James, an aviary, an 18th-century mill, a magnificent Petit Trianon-style château, an important and magnificent collection of iron sculptures, not to mention a beautiful view of the mountains. Let's continue with some Grands Crus and beautiful views of the rolling hills.

Saint-Émilion is a medieval town of great interest in many ways. But whilst its main streets are teeming with people during the peak season, don’t hesitate to venture into a more secluded part of Saint-Émilion to experience a more intimate atmosphere. This short route, taking less than an hour, allows you to explore Saint-Émilion off the beaten track and away from the town’s shopping streets.

A walk through vineyards, a 12th-century Romanesque church, châteaux renowned for their Saint-Emilion wines and woodland. Beautiful views in the hilly part.

From Lac de la Cadie, wind your way through vineyards towards the hills and the picturesque village of Pujols, where you can discover its castle, church and heritage.

From the old Saint-Laurent-des-Combes railway station, at a place called Barbeyron, you will climb back up towards Saint-Émilion with exceptional views of the medieval town. After skirting the town, this hike will take you through the heart of the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru vineyards.

The walk takes you through the heart of the countryside, past apple trees, vineyards, maize fields and more. You’ll cross the Pont des Gouttes and discover one of the most beautiful Carthusian monasteries in the Périgord, dating from 1686. This route is suitable for all ages.
