Entremont walks

In the commune of Glières-Val-de-Borne, in the Bargy massif, Lac de Lessy is a true gem at the foot of the Pic de Jalouvre. The walk takes you through forests and mountain pastures. It features a short rocky section. The start from La Joux and the return via Montagne de Paradis and Cocogne are what make this walk unique. You pass the two-hundred-year-old hamlet of Les Chalets de Mayse. The Chalet de Lessy is nestled on the lakeside after the Col de la Forclaz.

A lovely, easy hike, suitable for children used to walking on mountain trails. It is a round trip. You can simply head for the northern summit, which is the highest. The 360° view from the summits stretches, on one side, across the Aravis with Mont Blanc in the background, and, on the other, across Lake Geneva and the Jura.

The circular route described here follows trails that are less frequented than the traditional ascents to Lac de Lessy or L’Aiguille Verte. Setting off early in the morning allows you to reach the area above the Chalets de Mayse whilst enjoying the coolness of the forest. The arrival at the Col de la Forclaz may also be in the shade. The Aiguille Verte and the Pointe de Domingit offer a panoramic view of the Aravis range, with the Mont Blanc massif visible in the background. The descent to the La Gaudunière junction is busier, but further on you’ll find greater solitude – the price you pay being a fairly steep descent before returning to the starting point.

There is an alternative route to the "classic" route to Lac de Lessy, which is much less frequented. No particular difficulties (no ladders).

A short and easy walk around the informative trail about the formation of marshland and the different fauna and flora found there, followed by a visit to the monument erected to the resistance fighters who were based at the Plateau des Glieres in the latter part of WWII. The way back follows part of the historic trail and passes the place where equipment drops were housed and the site of the infirmary.

A magnificent hike passing through four passes around the Glières Plateau. You can enjoy views of the Bauges massif and Mont Lachat on the ascent, then on the other side, of the Montagne des Frêtes. At the end of the hike, you’ll look out over the Glières Plateau. A wide variety of landscapes.

This loop crosses La Roche Parnal and the Sous Dîne mountain. The hike passes through alpine pastures, cools off in the forest and crosses a few rocky passages, but without difficulty. You will encounter ibex, but above all, you will have a 360° panorama almost the entire time, stretching from the Jura to the Aravis and Mont Blanc ranges. However, this is a demanding route due to its length and elevation gain, although there are no technical difficulties. You can also choose to walk in the opposite direction to the one suggested here. A pleasant short hike to discover Le Grand-Bornand with beautiful views of the Aravis mountain range and Plan de la Forclaz. Return via the educational trail.

This is a pleasant, easy circular, except for a few steep slopes. It follows forest paths and alpine pastures, with some stony sections. The reward is at the top, where you can enjoy a 360° view: a perfect view of the Aravis and all the snow-capped mountains beyond.

The Tête du Danay is a classic hiking destination, perhaps better known from Les Confins (La Clusaz) as it is more direct than from Le Grand-Bornand, where we started. The result is a fairly challenging route, but one that is rich in scenery and varied in terms of the quality of the trails.

This circuit starts from the Col des Glières, on the plateau of the same name, in this important resistance site near Annecy. Note: this hike can be done on snowshoes; see the Practical Information section for more details.

Starting from the Plateau des Glières, I suggest you explore the Montagne des Auges whilst taking in some very lovely views. The route reaches the Pointe de Puvat, then joins the Arête Dran before following a beautiful ridge line towards the Pointe de la Québlette. Please note that the route passes through a few exposed sections requiring a degree of caution: please read the ‘Practical Information’ section below.

A hike that will take you to Lac de Lessy, then to the Aiguille Verte du Chinaillon. The terrain is varied: mountain pastures, forests, scree, sharp limestone pavements, etc. The landscape is equally varied, culminating in the summit, which offers a 360° panorama of the Bornes, Aravis and Mont Blanc massifs. The area is also ideal for encountering the many ibexes that inhabit the massif.

A circular hike offering an unforgettable panoramic view of the Aravis range, followed by the Bargy range. Quite demanding, it is suitable for both summer and winter, provided you have snowshoes.

Pointe de Puvat overlooks the Glières plateau and offers an exceptional view of Mont Lachat, Sous-Dine and, in the distance, Mont Blanc and the Alps.

The Lac de Lessy, located in a valley at the foot of the Jallouvre, Buclon and Aiguille Verte mountains, is well worth a visit. The route takes you up and down hills, offering magnificent panoramic views.

A very pretty snowshoe hike from Les Hauts de Puze to the Plateau de Cenise. There are superb views throughout the route.

A pleasant hike, with the Christ Roi viewpoint offering a beautiful panorama of the Aravis and La Clusaz, through the forest to the Mouilles meadow, then back around a rocky outcrop.

A beautiful circular route around La Clusaz that allows you to discover the nearby mountain pastures. The first part takes place in the forest: ideal in summer because it is shaded, and in autumn because it is exposed to the sun's rays. At the edge of the forest, the view of the valley is breathtaking, with beautiful panoramas of Les Aravis and the village of La Clusaz.

This hike is interesting in both summer and winter. On snowshoes after a good snowfall, on a beautiful sunny day, the forest passages offer opportunities for beautiful photos.
