Departure from the car park on the Route du Paradis Cenise after the hamlet of Les Hauts de Puze.
(S/E) From the car park, take the path (not always cleared of snow) which climbs quite laboriously in hairpin bends, but the view of the valley, the Col de la Forclaz and the Aiguille Verte du Chinaillon (Pointe de Domingit) on the right and the Rochers de Leschaux on the left compensates for the possible monotony of the route.
Continue to follow signs for "Cenise". After a fairly long stretch through the forest, you will reach the Chalet de Cenise (1617m); you are now at the start of the plateau.
(1) Turn right and after about 50 metres, veer left onto fairly steep terrain. Aim for the wooden cross that you can see to the north; pass to its right and continue straight ahead until you reach the Col de Cenise (signposted; 1724m).
Our intention was to climb to the summit of Pointe de Sosay, but after seeing the condition of the snow cover, we decided not to attempt it in winter.
(2) For the return journey, head south, veering slightly to the left to reach the top of the plateau.
The view over part of the Bargy mountain range is exceptional: Pic de Jallouvre (with Pointe de Sosay in its combe), Col du Rasoir, Pointe Blanche (with the Aiguilles Vertes at its foot), Pointe de Balafrasse and Pointe du Midi.
On the left (during the descent), you will see the most beautiful face of the Aiguille Verte, the Col de la Forclaz, the Rocher de Salin, then further away, from right to left, Roche Parnal, Sous Dine, Montagne des Frêtes, and Montagne des Auges.
(3) To leave the plateau, head for the two chalets whose roofs you can see.
(4) From there, turn right towards the two other chalets below. Continue downhill to another group of chalets; pass through the middle and descend along the edge of a wood until you reach a path.
(5) Continue to the right; you will cross the woods and rejoin the path you took on the way up, which will take you back to your vehicle (S/E).
