A circular at Le Suet

The walk starts from Forgeassoud dessus, which can be reached from Saint-Jean-de-Sixt. This village is easily accessible from Annecy and Thônes or from Bonneville and Glières-Val de Bornes. Saint-Jean-de-Sixt is served by regional buses from Annecy, but the car park at the start of the walk is about 2 km from the bus stop!

(S/E) From the car park at Forgeassoud dessus, go around the farm and climb up a path on the right.

(1) Follow the path on the left along the forest, then take a wide stony track.

(2) Leave the forest track and follow the path on the right towards Cerisset through the forest.

(3) Turn right, continuing to follow the path to reach the Cabane du Suet.

(4) From the hut, head north towards the summit of Le Suet.

(5) At the summit of Suet, enjoy the 360° panorama. Retrace your steps back to Cabane du Suet.

(4) Then follow the fairly steep path down to the left. It is well marked and becomes wider and less steep. You can take a short detour of about a hundred metres to take a break on a bench placed there for a panoramic view.

(6) Continue down the wide path and return to the fork in the path you took on the way up.

(1) Turn left and descend to the car park (S/E).

Between points (2) and (3), you can extend the walk to L'Ortie or even La Mare.

Saint-Jean-de-Sixt has plenty of shops and restaurants.
