Dracy-lès-Couches circular loop via the Chemin des Romains
Dracy-lès-Couches is a rural village with vineyards, woods and meadows. The village is situated 3 km from Couches along the Chemin des Romains, which in ancient times linked the city of Marseille to Boulogne-sur-Mer. During the walk, you can catch a glimpse of Couches Castle.
The Chemin des Romains starting from Saint-Sernin-du-Plain
Steep-sided valleys dominated by Mont de Rome to the north and the Couchois Plateau to the south.
The landscape is by no means flat, but the climbs, which are never very long, should not deter the leisurely walker with an afternoon to spare.
Couches Castle and the Couches region
Couches, a town situated along the Roman road from Lyon to Paris, is steeped in history. This walk will allow you to discover Couches’s castle, Saint Martin’s Church, the Guérin and Pajole Towers and the priory. The Couches region also has a wealth of wash houses, several of which are located along the route.
The two mountains
An ascent of two mounts, Mont de Rome Château (514m) and Mont Rême (546m), giving you a good panoramic view of the Cossane valley, which joins the Dheune.
The Château de Couches
A peaceful walk where Mont Rome seems to play hide and seek with hikers.
The paths run alongside small streams and the few tarmac sections do not spoil the enjoyment.
There is only one small climb, just to keep you in shape.
Circular route around Mont de Rème
A walk around Mont de Rème, which enjoys a ‘mountainous’ setting near the cliffs of Nolay and Mont Rome. The walk is gentle, with just two short climbs above the villages of Créot and Marcheseuil.
The Carnot Cross
From one side of the Cosanne to the other, the walk takes you through the beautiful surroundings of Nolay, sheltered to the north by the magnificent cliffs of the Bout du Monde.
The Croix Carnot, which can be reached without too much effort, overlooks the town and the entire southern valley, which is blocked in the distance by the Montagne des Trois Croix.
Between Étang de Brandon and Tour de Champitaux
A picturesque walk through the hills and ponds, allowing walkers to experience the still-vivid memories of the Middle Ages.
Tour of the Brandon Pond in Saint-Pierre-de-Varennes
Walk around the lake through the undergrowth, past beautiful rocks and the TGV line. This unpretentious route is more suited to people staying nearby who want to get some fresh air for an hour or have a picnic. There are few people on the path, if any, outside the summer season.
