Description of the walk

The hike starts from Saint-Jean in Santenay. To get to the starting point when you arrive in Santenay town centre, you will pass a fountain on the main square. Turn left and follow the signs for Église Saint-Jean. You will come to a dead end; park in the car park.

(S/E) Follow the yellow markings, taking the path on the left opposite the water point. You are now on the path that leads to the 3 Croix. Continue to follow the yellow markings and turn right to reach the 3 Croix, which offers a beautiful view.

(1) Descend following the yellow markings, which will take you to the site car park. Continue. At the car park, descend along the road to the Dolmen du Cul Blanc.

(2) Continue to the junction with the D906.

(3) Cross the road and take the path directly opposite. Take care when crossing this road. You are now on the path leading to La Rochepot. Continue until you see the markings for Saint-Aubin.

(4) Turn right. You will come to the D33, cross it and turn left. You will see the signpost a little further on.

(5) Turn right and follow the path to Saint-Aubin. In Saint-Aubin, follow the signs to the D906.

(6) Cross it and go up the road opposite (the crossing is between a house and a garage). As you go up this road, you will come to a fork.

(7) Take the path on the left that goes down to see the cave and take this path again to return to theGR®®. At Croix de Vollon, you can see another cave:

(8) Leave theGR®® and continue along the path running alongside the forest. Continue along this path. You will descend and find yourself in the forest. At the large rockfill, go 100 metres into the forest and you will see three cavities, the caves, but don't expect to see large caves.

(9) To return, take the same path that leads to the cross and the GR®®. Follow theGR®® to the right. At an intersection on theGR®®, heading towards Morgeot, you will come to a crossroads at Chassagne Montrachet. Follow the Santenay signs viathe GR®® by turning right. You will see a yellow Santenay sign viathe PR®®. Turn left and follow the signs.

(10) At a crossroads, turn right onto the D113 for 400 metres, then turn left, following the signs for Santenay. At the Moulin de Santenay, you will find a road on the right that leads up to the windmill.

(11) Go up this road and then back down the same way to rejoin the yellowPR®® signs. Continue along this path to Santenay town centre.

(12) Turn right at the intersection to pass in front of the fountain and continue straight ahead, following the signs for Camping - Voie Verte.

(13) At the level crossing, rejoin theGR®®7. You will pass in front of the Casino. Continue straight ahead towards "Le Haut de Santenay".

(14) Head towards Saint-Jean to reach your vehicle (S/E).

On this route, the tarmac is uneven and bumpy. To conclude, I would say that it's a road walk!

The route was travelled in preparation for a group. It had to be modified to suit the abilities of this group (long route with significant elevation gain). The route is interesting and the scenery is magnificent. Thank you.
