The Crête de Nantoux

Park in a small car park above Corchanu.

(S/E) Leave the road that veers off to the right and head left onto a wide track that climbs steeply to reach a junction just after a right-hand bend (elevation 320m). Keep to the left, pass the reservoir and begin the descent.
Follow this winding track, ignoring the side paths, until you reach a road running perpendicular to the vineyards.

(1) Turn right, soon ignoring a lane that branches off to the right towards the vineyard, and reach a bend a little further on. Follow the road as it turns right towards Valotte and reach the centre of the village at a stone cross. Turn left and continue straight on at the following junctions until you cross the D109 shortly after the last houses.

(2) Cross the D109 with care, turn left immediately at the fork and follow this sloping path until you reach a small road a little further up.
Head straight on past an old wash house and continue climbing until, after a few bends, you reach the ridge path at the edge of a copse.

(3) Turn sharply right, almost going against the flow of traffic, and head south. Soon ignore a path branching off to the left and continue along the ridge after passing above the village of Bouzeron.
Further on, ignore another path branching off to the left and reach the end of the ridge path, at a slight overhang, shortly after a right-hand bend.

(4) Carefully descend to the left via a short rocky section (note a slightly high step).
Reach the vineyard a little further down after a right-hand bend. Ignore the path branching off to the left and continue along the vineyard to quickly reach a road.
Turn left towards Nantoux and, after a left-hand bend, reach the village centre at the chapel.

(5) Turn immediately right between the chapel and the bread oven, continue straight on at the next junction and reach a fork just past the last houses.
Keep to the right on the path, which quickly descends into the woods. Continue straight on at the next junctions until you come to the D109 at the end of the descent.

(6) Take the road on the right and turn left almost immediately onto a path that joins another road a little further up. Turn right towards Bercully, pass Rue J.B Duhesme on your left and reach another junction at the edge of the hamlet.
Veer right in front of the cross and continue on to the village of Chassey-le-Camp. Keep going in the same direction, pass the church and reach a fork in the road at the Auberge du Camp Romain.

(7) Keep left, ignoring the road that descends to the right, and continue straight on until you meet, a little further up, two paths coming from the left. Ignore them and keep going in the same direction; not far from there, keep left at the fork.
The path will soon descend and, after a few bends, join a roughly tarmac-surfaced track. Continue down the slope and, shortly after a lane coming from the left, you will reach the car park (S/E).

To return to the start, leave the D974 and head up to the hamlet of Corchanu.
The car park is located 100m past the last houses, at a path leading off to the left.
Please note there are a few potholes and bumps at the top of the village: drive at walking pace.
