Park in the L'Arquebuse car park behind Crédit Agricole on Rue Saint-Georges, opposite the L'Arquebuse wash house.
(S/E) Head up to the left towards the dead-end road, which starts as a grassy path. At the top of the climb, turn left and follow this path to the road. Turn right onto the one-way road, pass the playground and continue straight on. At the power line, turn right and immediately right onto the path that climbs. Continue straight on along the stony path for about 600m, then take the path on the left between two hedges.
(1) Walk past the wash house then immediately turn left, pass the other wash house in Chalencey then keep left towards the Gassu wash house. At the end of the path, there is a picnic area with a magnificent view of Couches Castle. Walk down to the castle gates.
(2) Take the small road leading down towards the Creuse and walk past the Gassu wash house.
(3) Continue to the wayside shrine.
(4) There, turn right onto the path that leads into the woods. Keep left to follow the edge of the woods, then follow the path as it dips down. There, turn left, cross the temporary footbridge and join the road. Follow it to the right until the bend and turn left towards the campsite. Before the campsite entrance on the right, take the path that goes round it. Follow this grassy then stony path to the vineyard plots on the right. There, take the path between the vines then keep right towards the wayside cross. The road bends to the left, passing a picnic area and an orientation table.
(5) Leave this area and rejoin the road; immediately after the industrial building, take the path between the two hedges on the right. Keep left and cross the footbridge, then continue straight on. The path becomes a small road; follow it, keeping to the right. When you reach the wayside shrine, turn left onto the D148, then keep right at the three-way junction.
(6) Walk past the wash house then turn left.
(7) Cross the small bridge with the wash house and turn right, cross the road and immediately turn left. Walk past the wayside shrine, then turn left and walk past the church.
(8) Turn right onto the main street, cross the bridge, then turn right onto the street marked “No Entry except for residents”.
(9) Walk past the “Corcelles” wash house, then turn right onto Rue des Cours Chardons, which continues as a footpath. Walk to the wayside cross with the information panel.
(10) At the wayside shrine, turn right onto the Chemin des Romains and continue straight on until you reach the road. Cross the road and continue straight on. Pass under a large power line and you will soon reach a crossroads with a solitary poplar tree.
(11) Turn left, then immediately left again. Pass under the power line once more. A little further on, head towards the hamlet, then turn left after passing the first house and turn left again to take the main street to number 24.
(12) Just after number 24, take a small path on the left that goes downhill, then turn right into a street. At the bend, turn left onto the “chemin goujon”.
(13) At the end, cross the bridge then immediately turn right at the hairpin bend to reach Saint Martin’s Church.
(14) Turn left onto Rue Saint Martin (D978).
Walk past the "Guérin" tower and continue along this main street.
Walk past the "Bajole" tower and then past the town hall. Quickly turn into the courtyard on the left to see the priory.
(15) Return to the main street as far as the Crédit Agricole and head back to the car park (S/E) .
