This is an easy, short walk along quiet coastal paths in Meximieux, partly through farmland and partly through deciduous hedgerows. At the Virgin of Saint-Sulpice, a beautiful panorama opens up before us, revealing the Ain plain, the Bugey and the Rhône, and even the Alps, depending on the weather.

The Bois des Côtes forest from Fontaines-Saint-Martin
This route crosses the natural and agricultural site of the Vallon des Échets and the wetland area of the Ruisseau des Vosges. Once you arrive at the Madone site, at an altitude of 266 metres, you can enjoy an exceptional panorama of the Monts d'Or, the Saône valley, the cliffs of Couzon-au-Mont-d'Or, the Monts du Beaujolais and the Fourvière hill.
Chapelle de Leyrieu
This shaded trail leads to the top of the cliff at the Leyrieu Chapel and offers superb views of the Lyon plains and the Pilat massif. On a clear day, you can see the Alps and the Vercors massif.
Plateau des Aviateurs from Vernas
This is a very pleasant circular walk starting from the pretty village of Vernas, which takes you along attractive paths and trails, often shaded by trees, to the Plateau des Aviateurs, where a military aircraft crashed in 1944 and another in 1969. A small chapel, commemorative plaques and a sign commemorate these events. Wide panoramic views of the Rhône plains and the Alps in the distance can be enjoyed throughout the walk.

Northern Isère From the Larina plateau to the Chapelle des Aviateurs in Leyrieu
From medieval Vernas to ancient Larina and back via the limestone plateau to the Chapelle des Aviateurs (a memorial to two plane crashes), return to the Middle Ages via the fishpond at the Château Delphinal de Vernas.

Walk in the forest on the heights of Neuville
Most of the walk is in the forest. The paths are pleasant, with quite a few small stones on the ground. In rainy weather or after heavy rain, the path may be muddy or even impassable in places (not sure, to be checked). The end of the walk is not in the shade, so it can get hot in the sun.

I had wanted to walk through this flat countryside with its multitude of ponds for a long time. I suggest this route, which starts at Notre-Dame des Dombes Abbey. It will take you past some beautiful ponds and local farms. Depending on the season, you will be accompanied by the songs of a multitude of birds. Frogs will jump out of the water as you pass by and curious cows will come to meet you.
Lyon's painted walls: open-air museum Tony Garnier
Stroll through the Tony Garnier open-air museum. The beautiful buildings of the Cité des États-Unis serve as a backdrop for the architect's plans for his ideal city of Lyon. Other street arts, colorful and symbolist, extrapolate this concept to other countries.
Surroundings of Panossas
A short walk that takes us to Mont Morel and Étang de Charamel via the Tilleul de Sully, with a glimpse of the archaeological site of Panossas.
Étang Chardonnet circuit in Sainte-Olive
A pleasant walk typical of the Dombes. Mainly on tarmac but with very little traffic; you are on secondary roads. Along the route there is a high concentration of ponds, which are full of water in 2020. The view of the ponds is unobstructed and you will encounter many different birds. The walk is punctuated by a variety of landscapes: ponds, fields, copses and even a view of the Beaujolais region.
Around Veyssilieu
A loop starting from Veyssilieu to discover some panoramic views and the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Salette at the top of Chatelan mountain.
Note: this loop follows the routes indicated on the large map at the side of the road, i.e.: Cros de Lavan, Les Gorges, Frétignier, Seuillere, Floutier and back to Veyssilieu.
Through the woods of Perrier and Fontenaille
This is a pleasant hike that can also be done in hot weather as 90% of the route is in the shade of the woods.

An easy little walk for a Sunday afternoon.
Vénérieu and the Moras Pond
Walk near the CAPI, mainly in the woods. In the first part, there are beautiful views of the Bourbre valley, Bourgoin-Jallieu and Isle d'Abeau. On the way back, you walk along the Étang de Moras, but the reeds prevent you from seeing the shore. A few communal ovens and wash houses adorn the route.
Yellow signposts throughout the route. Allow between 3 and 4 hours depending on your pace and photo stops.
