Description of the walk

(S) Start at the Laurent Bonnevay coach station. Exit on the right as you come from the metro and take the street towards the Piscine stadium, passing in front of the car park entrance.
At the end of the street, turn right onto Rue de Pierrefitte and walk past the entrance to the swimming pool.

(1) Turn into the first path on the left (a hairpin bend) to join the shared footpath and cycle path.
The walk then follows the Canal de Jonage to La Feyssine Park. Pass under the Pont de Cusset bridge and continue to the Pont de Croix Luizet bridge.

(2) Go under this bridge and continue along the Rhône to the ring road.

(3) Continue through La Feyssine Park on the carriageway along the riverbank. Further on, you’ll come to Chemin de Bois Balmont; take it to the left.
As you leave the Parc de la Feyssine, you will see the Pont Poincaré opposite, flanked by the railway bridge, beneath which the walk continues. Head towards the Passerelle de la Paix.

(4) Take the ramp leading to Quai Achille Lignon.
Continue for a few dozen metres to cross the boulevard, then the Cité Internationale.

(5) Enter the Tête d'Or park through the gate slightly to the left.
Take the path opposite, cross the bridge leading to the island. Turn right at the second junction after leaving the bridge to walk alongside the velodrome. After a slight descent, take the bridge on the right and continue straight ahead to enter the wildlife area.
Go round the back of the lemur house and then turn left. Continue on to the Alpine Botanical Garden.

(6) Walk along the left-hand side and rejoin the circular path. Follow it for about ten metres, then turn left between a row of greenhouses.

(7) Leave the park and head straight ahead onto Boulevard Anatole France. Then take Boulevard des Belges on the left until you reach the old Brotteaux station (E).

As mentioned in other reviews, we start the walk in a noisy environment, but as soon as we reach the path, it’s perfect. The only downside is at the Parc de la Tête d’Or, where the bridge leading to the island is closed for maintenance work.

I wouldn’t recommend this hike in May/June for my fellow pollen allergy sufferers!

In conclusion, a very good hike with beautiful scenery that’s easy enough for complete beginners like me.

I went on this hike, which started closest to my home, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Although the start is quite noisy and urban, once you hit the trail it’s lovely.
And it’s even better once you enter the Parc de la Feyssine.
There was a slight issue with the route at point number 5. The gate indicated was closed, so I had to veer slightly to the left, as mentioned in the description, to get into Parc de la Tête d’Or.
Lots of people around the section crossing the Zoo.
To sum up, this route combining nature and the city is lovely; I recommend it.

It starts off a bit noisy as you walk along the shared path, but this is more than made up for by the vegetation and the scent of hawthorn at this time of year.
After that, it was pure pleasure from the magnificent Parc de la Feyssine, running alongside the river where you can see the waves, the islands and the birds, all the way to the Passerelle de la Paix, before reaching the Parc de la Tête d’Or via the Cité Internationale, with the greenhouses particularly busy today.
Thank you to the author for this varied route, combining nature and the city.

Hello
I went for a walk this morning; the first part between the canal and the motorway was a bit of a slog, but I really enjoyed Feyssine Park, which I hadn’t visited before. It’s a city walk, but not quite – it was nice and made for a good workout.
