The hike starts at the Place du Leat car park in Châtillon-la-Palud.
(S/E) Turn right towards Le Port. Before the bridge, turn left onto Rue du Port. On the right, you can access the Ain river via a small dirt track (unmarked and unsecured). At the signpost, continue straight ahead. The road turns into a dirt track.
(1) At the crossroads, turn left towards the village. At the end of the dirt track, turn right, then cross the road (D 984) at the traffic lights. Follow it to the right until you reach the roundabout.
(2) At the roundabout, take Rue du Pré Nouveau, then turn right onto Rue des Églantines. At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue des Verchères (shortcut possible, see practical information).
(3) 20 metres further on, turn left onto Chemin Sous le Caveau. The road continues along a path, goes around a field and leads back to the village of Bublanne opposite the church. Turn left onto the D 984, then take the Mas Durand hill (D 93A).
(4) At the cemetery, turn onto the path that branches off to the right. A fairly steep climb leads to the Dombes plateau. Once at the top, continue straight ahead, then when the path splits in two, take the left fork.
(5) At the Les Grands Champs signpost, continue towards Mas Durand. 200 metres further on, at the second Les Grands Champs signpost, turn left towards Châtillon-la-Palud. At Mas Durand, continue along the road opposite for 200 metres.
(6) At the pumping station, turn right onto a path. Be careful: it is easy to miss as the grass is tall, so keep an eye out for the yellow markings. Continue along a dirt path through the woods, cross Le Copan and go up the slope.
(7) At the Château de Grammont signpost, take the road on the right and go around the château. Here you can enjoy a beautiful view of the ramparts. Continue towards the church, then turn left behind it. After the cemetery and opposite the Château de Châtillon, take the footpath downhill, then continue along the École path which joins a road.
(8) A little further on, turn right onto a path and continue to the crossroads. Cross the road by first turning left then right and continue along the path until you return to the village. Cross at the traffic lights. At the Châtillon-la-Palud Gévrieux signpost, head towards the port to arrive at Place du Leat (S/E).
