Departure from the Lac Neyton car park.
(S/E) Descend towards the lake and walk along its shore. Cross the footbridge over the Cottey. Take the path on the left that runs alongside the Cottey stream. Along the way, you will see a "puddle" from which a spring emerges. You will come to a fork in the path.
(1) Turn left onto a stony path and continue straight ahead through the woods. Ignore the paths that branch off to the left and right. At the end of the woods, the path runs alongside and crosses fields before coming out onto the D84b.
(2) Follow the road from Bressolles to Pizay on the left, which crosses the Cottey and runs parallel to the D22.
(3) Just before the junction with the D22, turn right onto the dirt track heading towards Faraman, towards the water treatment plant, and continue along this same track, which is then partly tarmac.
(4) At the intersection, leave the tarmac road on your left and continue along the path that runs along the edge of the Bois de la Chèvre. Ignore a marked path on your left and continue to a small concrete bridge that crosses the Cottey.
(5) Cross the bridge and follow the path that climbs to the left. It's a bit of a climb, but it's not very long. The path leads to the Bressolles road. Turn left and continue for about 30 metres.
(6) Turn onto the first farm track on the right until you reach another road under a power line.
(7) Turn right onto the road, which is the longest paved section (about 500 m), until you reach another farm track.
(8) Turn left onto this path near a high-voltage pylon. Follow this path through fields, then into the Bois de la Hache, first on flat ground, then downhill.
(9) On the descent, at an intersection, take the path on the right that crosses the Bois de la Corne.
(10) At the exit, turn left onto the path that joins a field and then runs alongside it. Continue along this path through the undergrowth, keeping in the same direction. Pass a pumping station and walk alongside the Merdanson stream until you reach a road. Ignore several paths on the right or left.
(11) Turn right onto the road and walk for about 100 metres. Turn left onto the path that climbs up the embankment. Depending on the season, it may be slightly hidden by grass. Follow this path, which runs alongside fences. Along the way, you will have a view of the Ain plain with the Alps in the background, but only on a clear day. The path then turns right into the woods. At the edge of the woods, the path joins a track with a view to the east of Lyon. Join the road from Dagneux to Bressolles near a cemetery.
(13) Cross the road to join the path that climbs up the embankment, then runs alongside a field and becomes a street between houses.
(14) Cross the road and continue straight on Chemin de la Roche, which serves farms, then continue on the stony path that descends slightly to the right and joins the fork in the road from the outward journey.
(1) Then turn left to reach the Lac Neyton car park (S/E).
A very beautiful route in an exceptional setting. It is easy to park during the winter. The start of the hike sets the tone, and you can't wait to continue. In warmer weather, the trail must be crowded, as the site is magnificent and frequented by foodies. Also suitable for children, no dy
