Description of the walk

Parking and starting point: Route de la Mairie, car park by the town hall and church.

(S/E) With the town hall on your right and the church behind you, head straight ahead until the first turn-off on the left.

(1) Turn left onto the road (Chemin des Bruyères) and follow it to the D83. Turn left (Route de Bourg Achard).

(2) Cross the level crossing and turn left onto Route du Val. At the junction, near No. 391, turn left (yellow signposting) and continue for about 300 m until you reach Château du Val on your right.

(3) Facing the beautiful mansion, take the path on the left. Go under the railway bridge and, at the crossroads, ignore the yellow X markings and turn left. When you reach the tarmac, turn right and follow the path in the opposite direction to the start of the route.

(S/E) Walk past the car park where you started, continue straight on and head towards the village exit.

(4) After the sign for Theillement (see practical information), turn left after the barbed wire fence to take the path behind it. Follow this path, pass under the power lines and reach a fork.

(5) Go straight on, on level ground then straight downhill, until you reach a fork at the edge of the woods.

(6) Turn left, following the blue markings, cross the forest and join the tarmac road.

(7) Continue to the end of Chemin du Thuit.

(8) Turn right, following the yellow markings (Route du Neubourg, D83), and follow the road carefully for about 1,400 metres until you reach a junction just past the riding school on your left.

(9) Turn right onto Route du Pavier, following the yellow markings towards Le Pavier, and reach the entrance to a farm at no. 496.

(10) Enter the farmyard, keep to the right of the buildings to reach a path with yellow markings and rejoin the route you have already taken.

(6) Ignore the path branching off to the right and climb up the track opposite, which you descended on the way there, to reach the fork you passed on the way there.

(5) Leave the route you took on the way there and turn right. Exit the woods and continue across the fields to Theillement church and the car park (S/E).
