Artas walks

This is a walk with little elevation gain and no difficulty, except for the distance. You will stroll through the rolling countryside of northern Isère. As a bonus, you can walk around the Pierre du Diable (Devil's Rock) and maybe even climb it!

A very beautiful day's walk on more than 90% paths and trails, in the undergrowth surrounded by nature where you can really breathe, not far from Bourgoin-Jallieu and Lyon.

This walk is taken from the "Du bois de la Vacheresse à celui du Revollet" hike by Jipedeu, of which it forms the western wing. A pleasant alternation between woods, clearings and cultivated fields. Few roads and lots of clean, well-maintained paths, very pleasant in all seasons.

In good weather, you will have magnificent views of the Alps and the Lyon metropolitan area.

In autumn, the Fromentaux woods are full of chestnuts. In good weather, you can see Mont Blanc and the Alps from the heights. The route also takes us to the small spring at Maison Badin, passes through La Beaume and Les Combes, crosses the small stream of La Vesonne and returns via the peaceful By pond. We also walk alongside numerous meadows where horses graze.

This walk is not difficult. It alternates between woodland and the Dauphiné bocage. It takes you past three beautiful residences: the fortified house of Cazeneuve, Bonnevaux Castle and Avril (or Arzay) Castle, as well as a few ponds.

A lovely, pleasant and varied walk. There are no difficulties to be feared, as the elevation gain is well distributed. Towards Quinsonnas, you will have beautiful views of the mountains. You will pass three interesting buildings: the Château de Quinsonnas, the Demeure de Fichaillon and the Church of Vermelle. The icing on the cake is the descent into the charming valley of the Verneicu stream.

An easy walk among the ponds in the heart of the Nantoin Forest. At the end of the walk, you will be rewarded with a splendid view of the Liers plain, the Chartreuse, the Alps and the Vercors.

On this fairly flat loop, you follow a stream and then a river where brown trout breed. You will discover some beautiful restored houses and mills, a spring, a lake... An easy, short and enjoyable hike, best done in good weather in summer when La Gère is low, due to the need to ford the river.

Explore the old village of Pinet and its castles, then the Pinet tower, before descending through the forest and meadows, enjoying unobstructed views of the Pilat massif, the Monts du Lyonnais and Mont Verdun in the Monts d'Or.

This is an easy walk. You start from the village of Ornacieux-Balbins, on the side of the wooded moraine, and descend into the Liers plain. You will reach the Étang and the Marais de Faramans. In good weather, you can enjoy interesting views of the surrounding mountains.

This route, which passes by two viewpoint indicators, offers amazing views over plaine de la Bièvre and the Vercors and the Chartreuse mountain ranges.

A short walk that takes us to Mont Morel and Étang de Charamel via the Tilleul de Sully, with a glimpse of the archaeological site of Panossas.

Walk near the CAPI, mainly in the woods. In the first part, there are beautiful views of the Bourbre valley, Bourgoin-Jallieu and Isle d'Abeau. On the way back, you walk along the Étang de Moras, but the reeds prevent you from seeing the shore. A few communal ovens and wash houses adorn the route. Yellow signposts throughout the route. Allow between 3 and 4 hours depending on your pace and photo stops.

An easy little walk for a Sunday afternoon.

A loop starting from Veyssilieu to discover some panoramic views and the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Salette at the top of Chatelan mountain. Note: this loop follows the routes indicated on the large map at the side of the road, i.e.: Cros de Lavan, Les Gorges, Frétignier, Seuillere, Floutier and back to Veyssilieu.

Near Lyon, a day's walk along beautiful paths. Woods, a few hills, beautiful landscapes and a beautiful castle.

You climb the hillside of La Côte Saint-André (ND de Sciez) from where you have a remarkable view: from the Monts du Pilat in the west to the Mont du Chat in the north-east, passing through the Vercors, Belledonne and Chartreuse. From certain vantage points, on clear days you can even see the summit of Mont Blanc. On the way back, you will pass by the village's main attractions.

Hike around the Moras lake through the Bois de Fromentay in the Balmes Dauphinoises for a breath of fresh air, passing by the pretty 14th-century Château de Montplaisant.

A short walk on the moraine between the Bièvre and Liers plains, with views of the surrounding mountains. You will go to the Château de Bocsozel and return via the Château Pointière.

A circular that can be done at any time of year, allowing you to discover and visit the pretty Dauphiné village of Revel. The ridge path at the start, along with the flat section in the second part of the route, allow you to enjoy landscapes stretching from the Alps to the Massif Central. Best done on days before rain to ensure clear skies, offering superb, far-reaching and unobstructed views.

This hilly hike will take you past castles and fortified houses (La Chapelle Notre-Dame-du-Mont and the ruins of Bocsozel). The route also offers magnificent views of the Alps. This hike follows a small section of the Via Gebennensis. The Via Gebennensis connects Geneva to Le Puy-en-Velay. It is the route that Swiss and German pilgrims have always taken to reach the pilgrimage route from Santiago de Compostela to Le Puy.
