Park in the square in front of the church in Villeneuve-de-Marc.
(S/E) Leave the small square, walking alongside the church and then the edge of the cemetery. Continue eastwards. When you reach a T-junction, turn left downhill. You will come to the Côte-Saint-André road, which you should take, also on the left, to pass in front of the boys' state school and then the town hall.
(1) After crossing a bridge over a small stream, you will see a sign (Villeneuve-de-Marc - village - 380m). Take the dirt track that climbs to the right, towards Crête de Chatillon.
When the slope levels out, it leads to a small tarmac road which you take on the right. Follow this road for a while.
(2) When your small road turns 90° to the left, take the dirt track that continues opposite (local signs: Route du Château and Route de Plantin). When it descends, it is tarmac. After a right-hand bend, in the middle of houses, you will come to a small road.
(3) Local signs indicate "Impasse & Chemin du Gonnet". Turn left. You will soon come to some houses. Take a path that descends to the right. It runs alongside a field, then widens and becomes tarmac, leading to the D41f, which you take on the left (mind the traffic). You will pass a private pond on your right.
(4) After a right-hand bend, take the slip road on the right to join the dirt track. Ignore a path on the left and you will come to another dirt track, which you take on the left. Continue straight ahead and after a while you will come to a small tarmac road (local sign on your left: "Chemin de Châtillon").
(5) Go up to the left (it's a steep climb). The gradient levels out and you come out of the woods. Just before a house on your left, take a path on the left, which is tarmac at the start and goes uphill.
You will come to a sign indicating that you are at "Crête de Chatillon - 445m".
(6) When you reach the "Crête de Chatillon" sign, take the dirt track on the right, after the hedge, towards "Les Bois". You are now on a ridge path that descends towards a pass. You will come to a sign indicating: Les Bois - 415m.
(7) Cross the D41e and climb up opposite (slightly to the right). When you reach the restaurant/grill, take the steep path on the left. At the next fork, turn right to stay on the ridge. When you reach the woods, after the radio antenna, ignore the path that branches off to the right.
(8) At the next crossroads, descend to the left until you reach the valley. When you reach the meadows, you will come to a wide path which you take on the right. Pass a riding centre and you will arrive at the D41d.
(9) Turn left (be careful of traffic). After a bend to the left, turn right and you will soon come to a ford.
(10) Normally, you can cross without getting your feet wet, as the water is channelled underneath. When your path turns right up the hill, turn left. When you reach a T-junction of grassy paths, go up to the right and you will come to a small tarmac road.
(11) Turn left. Keep the church tower in your sights to easily find your way back to the car park at Villeneuve-de-Marc church (S/E).
