Park in the Town Hall car park.
(S/E) Leave the town hall car park and head towards the church. You will pass the pelota court, the fountain and a signpost. Turn right towards Bois des Crottes and head towards the hillside. You are now on Montée des Fontenelles and, as the name suggests, it's uphill... Follow the yellow markings, ignoring two paths on the right.
(1) When you reach the crossroads in the hamlet of Les Fontenelles, the climb is called Chemin des Vissoles. Continue straight ahead, ignoring the "dead end" sign. Follow the yellow markings and enter the woods.
(2) You will come to a complex crossroads with a sign for "Bois des Crottes". Turn left towards Les Grimaudes. At a fork, follow the right-hand branch (yellow markings). At the next sign, go straight ahead, along the edge of the woods, towards Les Grimaudes. At another fork, turn right again, towards a house (Martel). You will come to a small road which you follow downhill to the left and round a hairpin bend.
(3) At the next bend, leave the road and take a gravel path on the right. At the next fork, take the left fork (signposted "Les Grimaudes"). You will leave the woods and come out onto a large open space covered with fields. Your path is now paved. When you reach a road, turn left.
(4) Very quickly, turn left again onto a path through the fields (the sign indicating that you should turn here is located 20 metres further on...). You will enter a wood and descend quite steeply. At the bottom of the hill, you will arrive at some buildings.
(5) You are now in the hamlet of Laval. Take the path on the right, at the edge of the forest. When you reach a fork, take the left branch and, after a hairpin bend, you will come out onto a small road.
(6) Turn right. Your road goes around a shed and you will see the N518. To avoid walking along this road (traffic is often heavy and fast), go up to the left and then take the first small road on the right (Chemin de Charbonnière). Pass the cemetery. You will come to the Montée des Fontenelles, which you take on the right to return to your starting point (S/E).

and we were surprised by the climb at the beginning! But nothing insurmountable. Be careful at point 4 to turn left, we went past it the first time.
