Montgaillard (Tarn-et-Garonne) walks

An easy hike in a relatively wild setting. No major difficulties and a very well-marked route You will pass through hillside lakes created for irrigation. Chestnut and oak forests.

Throughout this hike, you can admire the multitude of dovecotes, each one different. The trail takes you back to the bastide town along the banks of the Gimone and ends at the wash house.

This hike is accessible to most people and follows aPR® marked in yellow and parts ofthe GR® 65 marked in white and red. All this around one of the most beautiful villages in France.

This easy route alternates between roads and paths between two beautiful Gascon villages: the recently renovated village of Sainte-Mère with its Gascon castle, and the village of Sempesserre, with sweeping views of the rolling countryside typical of the Gers region.

This easy little trail north of Lectoure allows you to explore the northern side of the town, following small streams.

The panoramic viewpoint at Boudou offers a slightly elevated view of the confluence of the Tarn and Garonne rivers, the poplar groves and the Saint-Nicolas lake.

This loop is recommended by the festival committee and allows you to discover the small village of Bourret. Once there, you can enjoy the facilities, such as the children's playground, football pitch and pétanque courts. There are a few sections on tarmac roads, but mainly on paths through fields.

Cologne, near Toulouse, remains one of the most beautiful bastides in the South-West. In the surrounding area, open farmland offers glimpses of brick houses, hydraulic and tourist facilities, and more.

Le Burgaud, a name that recalls the heather that once covered its territory, is a rural commune where the first hillsides of Gascony begin. Traces of six Gallo-Roman villas have been found in the village. It was founded in 1124 by Lord Bertrand de Cobirac, who ceded the territory to the Knights of St John of Jerusalem, who held a commandery there until 1789. The fortified village was clustered around the church and the Commande fortified house.

A short, easy route, accessible to all. There is little traffic, beautiful views, the lake shore... 30% of the route is paved.

Starting from the Château de Montaut-lès-Créneaux, which overlooks the Aulouste valley, take theGR® de Pays Coeur de Gascogne to reach the Château de Malartic (private) in the Arçon valley. Set in lush green surroundings, the cemetery and small chapel of the château form a beautiful architectural ensemble. You return to the village via a small road passing in front of the Lassale Chapel (private).

A hike in the countryside on the border between Gers and Haute Garonne, starting from the Abbey of Sainte-Marie-du-Désert and passing through two pretty little villages, Vignaux and Garac.

This is a hilly route, most of which is shaded by trees. At the highest point, you can enjoy a remarkable view of the Tarn plain and pass by the ruins of a medieval castle. The path at this point is thought to be a very old one that has been used since time immemorial. At the lowest point, you will find some coolness as you pass by a large field of poplar trees and a reservoir used for watering crops.

On the west bank of the Save, a passageway through the Pyrenees, marked by evidence of ancient occupation: carved and polished stones, jewellery, coins from the Gallo-Roman period. In the 12th century, Larra became an agricultural estate owned by the Cistercian abbey of Grandselve. The fairs in Grenade allowed the farmers of Larra to sell their produce. The Avocat dairy farm produced wine that rivalled the best vintages of Fronton. In 1955, Larra became an independent commune.

From 26 June to 30 October 2025, cardboard artist Stéphane Munoz is exhibiting eight of his works in the centre of Agen. Here is a walk that allows you to discover this temporary exhibition and some historical curiosities of the city of prunes.

At the beginning ofthe 12th century, the village belonged to the Counts of Isle Jourdain. A fortified village, which later became the property of the Kings of France, Bretx came under the control of various lords: the Faudoas family inthe 16th century, the Le Mazuyer family inthe 18th century and the Belbèze family before the Revolution. Bretx enjoyed prosperity in the19th century, as evidenced by most of the buildings in the village. After declining in the last century, the village is now experiencing a new boom as it welcomes new residents.

Menville is a pleasant little village on the left bank of the Save. The river meanders lazily through green meadows. Pretty houses with carefully tended gardens are grouped around the bell tower. The residents of Menville enjoy the peace and quiet and proximity to nature. Country roads lead to beautiful old farms, which everyone takes pride in maintaining and improving.

Route through the Bouconne National Forest. No particular difficulty as this hike has very little elevation gain. Very shaded route, perfect for summer family hikes.
