Set off from the car park at the Conservatoire de la Ruralité in Donzac.

(3) Walk past the Cave des vignerons du Brulhois and turn right to follow the D30 along the paths below. Then cross the road at the Malécare junction, return along the road and take the path along the Ruisseau du Rat on the right.

(4) Once you reach the circular route, take the track to the right then immediately left, following the farm tracks that run alongside the orchards.

(5) Take the Chemin de Couget on the left to the Domaine de Coujetou.

(6) Turn right and walk past the Domaine de Coujetou wine storehouse, then head up through the vineyards.

(7) Cross the road and follow it to the left, then turn right onto the path running alongside the vineyards and orchards, then turn left and right again.

(8) Cross the road and head right, then go down to the left along the edge of the forest and follow it.

(9) Enter the woods and head up the path.

(10) As you leave the woods, turn right and follow the D71 for about 50 metres, then take the path on the left and walk alongside the trees to go round the vineyards, turning right, then left and right again before reaching the Route de Côte Rouge.

(11) Take Route de Côte Rouge on the left until you reach Chemin de Pauquet.

(12) Take Chemin de Pauquet to the right and continue along it to the left.

(13) Turn right at the crossroads and follow the path alongside the fields and orchards, keeping right twice, then left once. Continue straight ahead to return to the crossroads from the outward journey.

Notes

The “Sentiers du Brulhois” form part of a network of short hiking routes designed for walkers, mountain bikers and horse riders (some sections are accessible to horse-drawn carriages) in the southern part of the Communauté de Communes des Deux Rives area. Several routes of varying lengths are available, starting from the villages of Donzac, Dunes, Sistels and Saint-Loup. On these walks, which take just a few hours, you’ll discover the rolling landscapes of the Brulhois region, the architectural heritage of the Gascon bastides and the charm of the flower-filled villages.

Worth a visit

The flower-filled village of Donzac, the Donzac Museum of Rural Life and Traditional Crafts, boasting a collection of 20,000 objects, the vineyards and the Brulhois winegrowers’ cellar.

Just a stone’s throw away: St Marcial’s Church, the Mariniers Chapel, the wash house and the Lac des Sources.
