La Tour-du-Meix walks

A very pleasant circular route along Lake Vouglans with views of the Pont de la Pyle bridge. A long ribbon winding between wooded hills, Lake Vouglans is 35 km long. Located in the heart of the Jura, it is one of the region's aquatic gems and one of the best-preserved large lakes in France. There are no roads running alongside it, and a few beaches and ports are widely open to visitors. The paths are very well marked. Discover the ruins of the Château de la Tour de Meix.

On either side of the Pont de la Pyle bridge, there are so many beautiful things to see, do and discover! One side takes you along a long, quiet path through the woods, running alongside the lake, with viewpoints and picnic areas. The other side, which is more touristy, takes you to the ruins of a castle, caves, viewpoints, and a leisure area with a harbour and a beach. In short, everything you need for a great day out! A beautiful route for trail running enthusiasts.

This beautiful, mostly shaded route offers views of several waterfalls, each as pretty as the next, as well as a cave open on the side of a cliff with a spring flowing from it. The vegetation is very diverse and you can see the tireless work of water on the rock.

This hike, to the west of Lake Vouglans, offers a varied route that is not difficult, save for its length. It follows good paths, alternating between woodland and open spaces. The view from the Belvédère des Bourlaches overlooks the left bank of Lake Vouglans.

Pleasant paths through clearings and forests to explore these historic sites. Various information boards recount the significance and eventful history of these two castles. Depending on the season, various views open up through the vegetation, particularly to the east.

A lovely route along shaded, unmarked paths in the woods around Varessia. An easy route suitable for the whole family. Come and discover the chapel, the ridge and the Maison des Blaireaux de Varessia. The diverse forest of Varessia is home to magnificent flora and trees!

Located in the heart of the forest in a most peaceful setting, the three lakes, the "Petit", the "Grand" and the "Lac de la Fauge", are home to flora and fauna characteristic of wetlands. A nearby trail offers a panoramic view of the lakes and the village of Étival from the lookout point.

Two pretty lakes hidden at the bottom of a very pleasant valley – that’s the setting for this walk! A forest track takes you round the large lake, bordered by woods and meadows. Suitable for pushchairs.

Do you want to commune with nature, admire its beauty at the slow pace of walking, walk to get to know yourself better, get back to basics, push yourself: set off on an adventure along the Camino de Santiago. That’s what I’m offering you with this route. I set off from my village in the Jura (the first six stages are not part of the signposted routes of the Camino de Santiago) to reach Santiago de Compostela in Spain, but there’s nothing stopping you from setting off from your own home to join the route at any stage, starting from Le Puy-en-Velay or any other town along the way. .

First stage of the Way of St James. This first stage, starting from Villards-d'Héria, takes you up to higher ground with a superb view of Lake Coiselet and, ultimately, a peak and a castle that are well worth the detour. Indeed, the Pic d’Oliferne towers over the Ain Valley by almost 500 metres and offers a beautiful view, particularly of the Haute-Chaîne du Jura.

A route through the hills, with stunning views of the surroundings of Moirans-en-Montagne. Sections across the Jura mountains, with clear views, interspersed with sections through the undergrowth and amongst boulders. A very varied, fairly challenging hike.

Depending on the season, this walk takes you through flower-filled meadows in summer, snow-covered fields in winter where you can see the tracks of wild animals, and the heart of light spruce forests and the taiga landscape of the peat bog.

Around Lac d'Antre, its sinkhole and the resurgence of the Héria, one of the most important sanctuaries in Gaul was established between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD. It is through the cult of water that I invite you to discover the ancient city of Antre, its Gallo-Roman remains, its resurgences and its cliff perched 962 m above the lake, Please note: due to bad weather and tree-felling work around Lake Antre, access around the lake and to the Belvédère is prohibited. When facing Lake Antre, you must head for points (3) and (6) and avoid points (1), (2), (4) and (5).

A family walk that allows you to discover the Montorient site by crossing the village of Geruge. The return journey is along the ridges, where the path crosses a pasture with superb views of La Bresse.

The village of Saint-Laurent-la-Roche is located in the Revermont hills and boasts a listed church, viewpoints over the Bresse Jura, a waterfall and fountains.

An easy hike around Villards-d'Héria with superb views of Lake Antre, the town of Moirans-en-Montagne and Lake Vouglans.Please note that access is currently prohibited: following a landslide, access to the Lac d'Antre viewpoint is prohibited until further notice. This easy hike is best enjoyed in spring and autumn if you want to make the most of the second part, which is also the most beautiful: the waterfall and stream. It's guaranteed to be cool in summer, even with just a trickle of water. Amazon rainforest atmosphere before the waterfall. Moderator update on 24/09/2020: Please note! Change of route at the end of the trail, after the waterfall. To return to the car park, follow the diversion and the yellow markings.

A circular walk, mainly through forest, overlooking the southern part of Lake Vouglans with beautiful views of the lake, a horseshoe bend in the River Ain and the dam.

Tenth stage of the Échappée Jurassienne. For this stage starting from Châtillon, you will head towards the largest natural lake in the Jura: the magnificent Lac de Chalain. A true blue jewel surrounded by limestone rocks, the lake can be seen in all its splendour from the plateau, offering breathtaking panoramic views. You will then walk through stunning natural landscapes before reaching Menétrux-en-Joux, located near the famous Hérisson waterfalls. An adventure where every step will reveal enchanting and varied scenery!

Hike punctuated by beautiful views, following the route of ancient rutted tracks. Passage at the Pierre Énon.

This lovely, easy walk will take you to the Conliège hermitage and then, via forest paths, to various viewpoints overlooking Lons-le-Saunier and the Revigny valley. The return journey follows the greenway and passes through various viaducts and tunnels (including the famous 100-Step Tunnel, which you can choose to visit and walk through on the way there and back).

A circular route starting from Martigna and passing by four viewpoints overlooking the lakes of Chanon and Vouglans. From the top of the cliffs, the viewpoints invite us to contemplate the lush greenery and the reflection or sunset on these lakes.

Walk in the forest with a view of Lake Antre and the Jura Mountains

A pleasant hike in the hills above Lons-le-Saunier. You will pass a completely isolated wash house, climb up to the Belvédère de Montaigu, descend into the middle of the Val de Sorne golf course, and walk along paths accompanied by birdsong and the sound of flowing water. This is a well-marked and well-maintained circuit with two significant climbs.

Walk in the forest above the beautiful village of Arinthod, which you can also visit after your hike.

Magnificent waterfalls, among the most impressive in the Jura, whose reputation is well established. This walk leads to the foot of the torrent, which you follow to the summit, near the waterfalls and caves. It forms a loop, returning alongside the ridges, in the shade of a lush forest.

A hike for those who like to climb high. Right from the start, you can enjoy the view over the Bresse plain, with a view stretching as far as the Burgundy coast.

Lake Chalain, nestled in a valley flanked by high cliffs, is the largest in the Jura. After a walk through rural valleys offering beautiful views of Lake Chambly and the Jura mountains, you will walk along the cliffs overlooking its turquoise waters.

A superb route exploring the little-known Savignard valley and taking in the ruins of Montorient Castle, offering magnificent views over the vineyards, the Bresse region, and as far as the foothills of Burgundy.
