Car park along the D678 between Pont-de-Poitte and Nogna (elevation 519m).
Take care – heavy traffic!
Start at the junction of the D678 and the two tracks heading south-west and north-east.
(S/E) Take the track heading north-east, then south-east (probably an old railway line), passing a first path on the left, then a second on the right. Arrive at Bois Brûlé.
(1) Take the path climbing to the left until you reach a five-way junction on the edge of the meadows.
(2) Continue straight on and look out for a path slightly below on the right. Follow this descent to reach a crossroads.
(3) Turn left and head due north until you reach a fork.
(4) At the crossroads, turn left, then quickly right onto the path leading to the ruined castle of Binans. Walk to the site and back, keeping to the left.
(5) Return to the crossroads and continue left (PR® on the map), ignoring a path on the right. You’ll emerge at the bottom of the descent in the hamlet of Binans, near the chapel and the fountain. Turn almost completely around, keep left after the church and reach the crossroads in the centre of the hamlet.
(6) Head south, first along a road, then a wide dirt track, leaving the farm access tracks on your right. Stay on this track, not without noticing the tower overlooking the area to the left above. You’ll reach a fork at Chemenot.
(7) Take the main path on the left, heading up through the Bois de la Grande Côte.
(8) Leave this path and continue climbing to the left until you reach the ruins of Beauregard Castle.
(9) Warning: do notapproach the ruins! Continue the descent southwards to reach a new track.
(10) Turn left and walk for a few dozen metres to rejoin the ascent route.
(2) Turn right and return to the car park via the reverse route of the outward journey (S/E).
