To get to the start, take the D470 towards La Tour-du-Meix. Park near the bridge, in the car park next to the Pont de la Pyle chalet.
(S/E) Walk past the chalet towards the bridge. Cross carefully to reach the start of the trail on the other side of the bridge and follow the signs for Bellecin.
Stay on this forest path for about 2 km until you reach a viewpoint and picnic area.
(1) Then head towards the Vouglans Dam.
Please note: even though the signs point in the opposite direction towards Pont de la Pyle, you should follow the signs for Barrage de Vouglans for this hike.
(2) At the crossroads, continue north on the forest road towards Orgelet/Surchauffant (yellow markings).
(3) Leave the forest road by turning 90° onto the path on the left. Follow the yellow markings until you reach the forest road. Continue to the D60 and head north to join the D470. Take care on this short section of the route, which runs alongside traffic lanes.
(4) Cross the D470 carefully and continue left towards La Tour-du-Meix (yellow markings). Enter the village and continue to the fountain.
(5) At the fountain, follow the signs for Château de la Tour. Turn right after 50 metres and continue to the junction with a small path on the left. This path is not signposted but will take you to the castle ruins and the viewpoint.
(6) From the ruins of Château de la Tour-du-Meix, retrace your steps and take the original path on the left.
At the first junction, head north (left) and continue along this path for about 450 metres.
(7) At the intersection, turn 90° to the right and follow the signs for Surchauffant/Entreportes. Walk along this path for about 800 metres.
(8) Leave this path heading south, still following the direction of Surchauffant/Entreportes, and continue for 1,300 metres, staying on this path.
(9) After the barrier, follow the path as it turns sharply right towards the lake.
(10) About 200 metres after the barrier, a small unmarked path on the left leads to a viewpoint and a small geological fault.
Return to the path and continue along the lake to the end of the path.
(11) At the end of the path, turn left before the campsite, pass the leisure park and arrive at the Louisiane pier.
Continue along the access road to the pier and take the small path on the left to pass in front of the harbour master's office and the port.
Return to the car park by taking the small uphill path near the boat ramp (S/E).
