To reach the start, take the D470 towards La Tour-du-Meix. Park near the bridge, in the car park next to the Pont de la Pyle chalet.
(Out and back) Walk past the chalet towards the bridge. Cross carefully to reach the start of the path on the other side of the bridge and follow the signs for Bellecin.
Stay on this forest path for about 2 km until you reach a viewpoint and a picnic area.
(1) Then head towards the Vouglans Dam.
Please note: although the signs point in the opposite direction towards Pont de la Pyle, you must follow the signs for the Vouglans Dam for this walk.
(2) At the junction, continue due north on the forest road towards Orgelet/Surchauffant (yellow markings).
(3) Leave the forest road by turning 90° onto the path branching off to the left. Follow the yellow markings until you rejoin the forest road. Continue to the D60 and head due north to join the D470. Take care on this short section of the route which runs alongside roads.
(4) Cross the D470 with care and continue to the left, towards La Tour-du-Meix (yellow markings). Enter the village and continue to the fountain.
(5) At the fountain, follow the signs for Château de la Tour. Turn right after 50 metres and continue to the junction with a small path on the left. This path is not signposted but leads you to the castle ruins and the viewpoint.
(6) From the ruins of Château de la Tour-du-Meix, retrace your steps to rejoin the original path on the left.
At the first junction, head north (to the left) and continue along this path for about 450m.
(7) At the junction, turn 90° to the right to follow the signs for Surchauffant/Entreportes. Walk along this path for about 800m.
(8) Leave this path heading south, still following the signs for Surchauffant/Entreportes, and continue for 1,300 m, staying on this path.
(9) After the gate, follow the path as it bends sharply to the right towards the lake.
(10) About 200m past the gate, a small, unmarked path on the left leads to a viewpoint and a small geological fault.
Return to the path and continue along the lake to the end of the path.
(11) At the end of the path, turn left before the campsite, pass the leisure park and arrive at the Louisiane jetty.
Continue along the access road to the jetty and take the small path branching off to the left to pass in front of the harbour master’s office and the port.
Return to the car park by taking the small uphill path near the boat ramp to reach the car park (S/E).
