Bellecin Forest, Lake Onoz and the village of Onoz and Les Bourlaches

This hike, to the west of Lake Vouglans, offers a varied route that is not difficult, save for its length. It follows good paths, alternating between woodland and open spaces. The view from the Belvédère des Bourlaches overlooks the left bank of Lake Vouglans.

Description of the walk

Start at the Bellecin water sports centre.

(S/E) Follow the D3E5 road up to the centre’s car park and walk alongside the buildings on the south-west side. Turn right onto Allée Combez and head left up to the junction.

(1) Head right towards the north-east for about 150 metres. Turn left, then right to rejoin the marked trail.

(2) At the shooting range, turn left towards the Bellecin Forest

(3) At the large crossroads, turn sharply left to reach En Musia. Continue in the same direction until you reach a road. Follow it to the left for 150 metres.

(4) Head across the meadow to the right, crossing the golf driving range, until you reach the 503-metre mark. Turn left onto the main track and head towards the 500-metre mark and the D3.

(5) Follow it to the right and after 100 m, head uphill staying on the main track until you reach the road, the 559 mark and the D60.

(6) Cross it and continue straight ahead. At the next junction, turn left onto the track and follow the road carefully until you reach the Lac d’Onoz junction.

(7) Leave the D60 and turn right onto the track, heading up to the 604m mark. Leave the track on your right, continue straight ahead, pass close to the Grange du Chalet (in ruins) and continue due south along Les Champs Courbes until you reach the 578m mark.

(8) Turn left and cross the D3 road. At the cross, go straight on, make a short circular loop to the left towards the statue overlooking the village, rejoin the track on the left towards Louvatière and arrive at a fork at elevation 580.

(9) Turn right for about 480 m, then left until the next crossroads, ignoring the various paths branching off on either side.

(10) Turn left towards the Belvédère des Bourlaches. Leave it and continue south-southeast (Satonat) to the track. Continue straight on and descend following wide bends. Pass close to the viewpoint and reach a junction.

(11) Turn sharply left and reach the lakeside via the GR® de pays. This wide track climbs north-north-west, runs alongside the Enclave de la Commune d'Orgelet on the left, goes round the deep “gorge” and comes out onto a road.

(12) Cross it and take the path leading to Bellecin Beach, which you must cross, continuing straight ahead along the lake’s banks. Return to the car park in this way (S/E).
