To get to the start, head towards the village of Soucia, between Meussia and Clairvaux-les-Lacs.
Park near the church.
(S/E) With your back to the church, on the road to Thoiriad, head north.
(1) Ignore the path on the left, which will be the return route, and continue straight ahead. At the junction with the D27, cross the road carefully and continue along the path opposite.
At the sign for "Les Nuisières", follow the signs for the Scie viewpoint for 20 metres.
(2) Turn left (east) and follow the path that leads you towards the woods. Follow the yellow markings.
At the junction with a wider path, turn left and continue for about 300 metres.
(3) Leave this path and continue on the trail to the left, heading north-west. Continue on this trail until you reach the Belvédère de la Scie viewpoint.
(4) After admiring the view of the lakes, continue along the path towards Clairvaux-les-Lacs, still following the yellow markings.
At the end of this forest path, turn left (north-northeast) and stay on this path for about 700 metres. At the intersection, continue left on the path heading north-northwest and continue until you reach the D188.
(5) Cross carefully and continue on the path opposite, following the yellow markings towards Clairvaux-les-Lacs.
(6) Back on the D188, head towards the adventure park and follow the yellow markings to the tarmac road.
Continue in the same direction on this road to reach the D118. Keep left, heading north-northeast, until you reach the intersection with a road coming from the left (Chemin du Langard).
(7) Turn left at the hairpin bend and follow the sign for "La Scie - Saint-Ouen".
Continue along this road until you reach the barrier of a campsite. Go through the barrier and continue to follow the yellow markings on this path until you reach another barrier.
(8) Go through the gate and continue south on this path, following the sign for "Thoiriad - la Scie".
(9) Leave the path and continue slightly to the left on the trail towards the Scie viewpoint (yellow markings). Cross the Raillette stream.
(10) 30 metres further on, the path splits in two. You can either stay on the same path or take the path on the left, which runs parallel to it but takes you to the Nitrière and Piley caves.
Please note: the caves are not signposted and there are no paths leading to them. You will therefore need to find the foot of the cliff through the woods for the Nitrière cave or follow the stream upstream for the Piley cave. Please be careful!
In both cases, you will arrive at the same place. Continue to follow the yellow markings until you reach the intersection indicating the Belvédère de la Scie.
(11) Turn left heading south and continue along this path until you reach the Y. Follow the path on the right which joins the D273. Cross the road carefully and head towards Soucia.
(1) Continue straight ahead to reach the car park (S/E).
