La Bâtie-des-Fonds walks

Starting from the hamlet of La Bâtie-des-Fonds and the sources of the Drôme via cross-country paths, you reach an enchanting ridge. The route winds between Drôme and Hautes-Alpes, offering a 360° panorama with views of Le Duffre, Le Dévoluy and, in the distance, Le Vercors, Les Écrins and the Lure mountain.

From the resort, you will discover a vast 360° panorama of the Southern Alps and the whole of the Diois region, with a view of Mont Ventoux too. Best done in June for the exceptional flora.

A varied hike to discover the village of La Beaume from the heights, Haute-Beaume and the surrounding area. There are many attractions: an old hermitage (in ruins), the Beaume waterfall, and flora and fauna. Please note: this hike is not suitable for everyone, as the slopes are steep and the path is narrow and rugged in several places. It is reserved for fairly fit hikers. There is a steep climb early on.

Discover more than five kilometres of ridge offering breathtaking 360° views of the surrounding mountains. The route follows almost exclusively single-track trails winding through woods and meadows. From late May to late June, the trail is adorned with abundant, particularly pleasant and colourful flora.

A beautiful hike across two peaks of the Montagne de Laup, offering superb 360° views.

A lovely route starting from Col de Cabre. You reach the summit of Banne (beautiful panoramic view towards the Lure mountain, Ventoux, Vercors and Dévoluy) via a beautiful climb through the woods on a well-marked but sometimes steep trail.

This is a beautiful hike to discover the southernmost ridges of the Diois region, culminating in the highest point of this landscape, the summit of Duffre. The panorama offers superb views of the Southern Alps and Dévoluy.

This stage is different from the previous one, less airy, but the second half has some wonderful surprises in store. From the Col des Pins, the view opens up onto the wide agricultural valley of Rosans, which is magnificent. Above all, the final stretch is particularly fabulous. Directly above Rosans, the trail literally plunges down towards the old village, a marvel of the Baronnies.

A beautiful hike to discover wild peonies in the Valdrôme area, on the Crêtes des Casses in the Haut Diois, on the border of the Drôme Provençale. This walk is a feast for the eyes, as you will encounter a wide variety of flowers in May and June.

If you enjoy a good climb with cables to help you and then discovering an exceptional 360° panorama over the whole of southern Diois, then you will love this hike. Best done in June for the flowers; by mid-July, it's already too late.

A short walk to discover the proudly standing keep of La Rochette.The route mainly follows tracks and paths, with the exception of the access to the second arch, which is via a sloping ledge requiring you to nimbly weave your way through a forest of box trees and climb up a rocky ledge with a few movements similar to rock climbing.

This circular route, starting from the charming medieval town of Serres, accessible by train, gives pride of place to the ridges and peaks of the massif. Between the Hautes-Alpes and Drôme, each day offers spectacular views and aerial trails, without any major technical difficulties. Small Provençal villages, perfectly integrated into the landscape, punctuate this particularly wild and uncrowded route. Between lively and diverse forests, golden pastures, lavender fields and prominent limestone rocks, this part of the Baronnies, with its strong rural and mountainous character, offers exceptional panoramic views of the Southern Alps and the nearby Provençal peaks every day.

Set off in style on this revisited Tour des Baronnies. Throughout the morning, the narrow path winds along the ridges overlooking Serres, winding its way between beautiful rocks and twisted Scots pines. At Serre de la Bouisse, the view of the Baronnies and the Alpine peaks is breathtaking. Then, between the bucolic Col d'Arron and the finish, the path progresses delightfully, like a balcony, under the Montagne de l'Aup. Finally, the Praboyer lodge is located in the heart of nature.

From Vieux Serres under the Rocher de la Pignolette, via the Crêtes de Fontarache, the Rocher de Jardane and the Crêtes de la Bouisse: a beautiful hike through sharp limestone pavement and boxwood.

Discover the historical heritage of Serres, with views of the Buëch valley.The trail winds its way up to the Fontarache ridge and descends in stages to the village.

Located in the natural site of the Gorges d'Agnielles, the cliff trail winds its way along panoramic ledges accessible by stairs that cross rocky outcrops, offering magnificent views from two lookout points. Equipped with interpretive panels, this trail is accessible by a staircase suspended from the cliff and crosses the cave with five entrances. The trail is easy except for those who are apprehensive about steep paths.

I suggest a short walk in the Marais des Bouligons and its surroundings: this is a protected area covering 65 hectares, home to remarkable flora and fauna.This walk is fairly easy and is particularly suitable for families.

A magnificent hike with breathtaking 360° views of the southern Vercors, Devoluy, Ventoux, etc. from the ridges. There is a lot of elevation gain, one steep section with cables, and a few steep descents, but the route is very beautiful and varied with a sublime ridge.

A circular route starting from Saint-Julien-en-Beauchêne, following the GRP® Tour du Buëch and the GR®94 to the charming hamlet of Vaunières, passing through peaceful landscapes with beautiful mid-mountain panoramas. Be careful! As the path between Fontarasse and Chemin de Vaunières is closed, you will need to take the small tarmac road "Chemin de Vaunières" instead of the Fontarasse path.

Starting from the Veynes lake, this circular loop climbs and circles the Eygaux plateau. Accessible for much of the year, it offers beautiful views of the Val d’Oze and the surrounding mountains. The Eygau de Véras site offers sports trails (mountain biking, running, hiking), which is a good complement to the Iscles lake leisure centre.

A circular route starting from Saint-Julien-en-Beauchêne, mainly on the GRP® Tour du Buëch Variant, around the small summit of Piarards which overlooks the Grand Buëch valley. After a gradual climb through the Durbon forest, the return route passes through the Col de la Bécha to descend to the hamlet of Baumugne, made famous by Jean Giono's novel "Un de Baumugnes".

A short hike in Beauchêne through boxwood and beech woods under the Ranc de Mianoux towards the old Chartreuse de Durbon.

A unique circular hike around the Ranc de Mianou via its southern slope and a trail not shown on IGN maps. What's more, it offers magnificent views and landscapes throughout the route, from the long ridge between La Penne to the westernmost point of Ranc de Mianoux. The entire route is covered in a circular manner.

A beautiful, challenging loop! The trail passes through alpine pastures and beautifully flowered forests. The view from the summit is stunning, despite the modest altitude (1,686 m). Vaunières is a small village undergoing restoration thanks to young volunteers from all over the world.

A magnificent ridge walk between the Oule valley (on the Montmorin side) and the Blème valley (on the Ribeyret side).

The climb to Pic de l'Aigle is steep, but the view over the plains of La Batie Monsaléon and Savournon, as well as the surrounding peaks, Rocher de Beaumont, Arambre and Grand Ferrand, etc., is well worth the effort.

This loop takes you through the magnificent meadows and forests above Les Tatins. At this altitude, the land often quickly becomes overgrown, as it has been abandoned by farmers and livestock breeders. This is not the case here, however, and life goes on: hay is harvested, the woods are managed, houses are preserved and more modern ones are being built. The walk is easy. It reaches and then follows the line of the passes, which offer views of the opposite slopes, then descends through woods to the hamlet of Bois Noir. A charming paved road, between wetlands, meadows and abandoned lavender fields, leads back to the starting point of this mountain walk.

This route around the Combe Charonnière, which was once well documented in local hiking guides, has fallen into disuse, except for the climb up to Soubreroche. Nevertheless, this walk still has many attractions: it is an opportunity to enjoy landscapes in all directions, discover ancient remains of sheepfolds and terraced crops, and explore a beautiful forest valley that sometimes plunges deep into the ground. Although there are no major difficulties, apart from a short section in a marly area, we strongly advise hikers to take a GPS device with them, as this little-used area is sometimes covered with abundant vegetation: grass, various types of scrub and sometimes fallen trees, which can temporarily obscure the path. A beautiful walk for those who like to venture a little beyond the beaten track.

Family hike in the Toussière valley, now uninhabited but still bearing traces of the past with the ruins of a Templar commandery. During May and June, this is a pleasant hike to enjoy the mountain flora. View of the foothills of Oisans and Dévoluy.

This hike provides access to a beautiful panoramic ridge between Drôme and Hautes-Alpes. The fairly high altitude offers magnificent views and an exceptional 360° panorama of the Rosanais region, from Ventoux in the south to Dévoluy and Vercors in the north.

Set off to conquer a 1,085-metre mountain on a steep path, under a peaceful forest of tall trees and interspersed with breathtaking views of the rocky chaos of the Claps. At the summit, enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Diois valley and the first peaks of the Vercors. Walk along the ridge to feast your eyes once more, this time in the direction of the Hautes-Alpes. Finally, descend gently through a landscape typical of the South of France.

Ascent to the Tête de Garnesier, a viewpoint overlooking La Jarjatte and La Cluse, and return via the Tête des Ormans and the Tour Carrée. The climb takes place in the magnificent Durbon forest and the chamois meadows below the Col de Plate-Contier before tackling the mineral world of the Dévoluy ridges. At the summit, the landscape is breathtaking. The return journey, partly off-trail, follows the edge of the cliff leading to the Tour Carrée.

This hike takes in four passes, Col des Tours, Col du Vallon de l'Aup, Col du Lauteret and Col de Plate Contier, and is characterised by the diversity of its landscapes and the beauty of its panoramic views. This is a ride with no major technical difficulties and a steady climb throughout, and is one of the most beautiful in the Bochaîne area. "A real favourite".

A varied loop in the Baronnies Provençales, which runs through pretty gorges and then to a summit with beautiful panoramic views.

The Riou gorges and their numerous pools offer a remarkable natural spectacle and a pleasant way to cool off. And as you approach the Jubéo pass, you might think you're on the road to the explosive film "The Wages of Fear".

This heart-shaped route in the Baronnies Provençales Natural Park offers beautiful scenery, exceptional sunshine and, apart from 2.5km of forest road, the pleasure of hiking on trails.

Connecting these two beautiful little villages is a very varied stage, which takes the time to explore the Provençal countryside between meadows, orchards and hamlets. The summit of La Vanige, which is optional, is clearly worth the detour for its adventurous climb and aesthetic rocky ridge.
