Couëron walks

Starting at the town hall square in Couëron, this circuit quickly leaves the village to reach Lake Beaulieu, offering some beautiful views of the town. After circling the lake and perhaps observing a few birds, it ends along the Loire, which you reach via footpaths. Here you will find Jean-Luc Courcoult's "La maison dans la Loire" (The House in the Loire) and the "Tour à Plomb" (Plumb Tower). Suitable for all seasons, this route is particularly pleasant in the low winter light.

This hike covers part of the Marais Audubon, a wetland that is part of the estuarine marshes. This area is a sanctuary for many species of birds, including storks, herons, egrets, ducks, harriers... An area of extensive cattle farming, it is also home to other less desirable species, such as nutria. This circular route of about 10km runs almost exclusively along roads – some of which are flood-prone – but with very little traffic.

A lovely little route along the Cens and through the countryside around Sautron.

This hike starts and ends at the Bon Garand Chapel in the commune of Sautron but mainly takes place in the commune of Vigneux. It alternates between farm tracks in the countryside and wooded passages, and passes through several typical hamlets with some very beautiful buildings.

This pleasant walk starts from the Yves Laurent promenade, runs along the Loire and passes through a small, pleasant park with a pond (Clos Saint-Julien).

Half gravel, half asphalt, this route along the Loire offers beautiful views of this magnificent river, with lovely shaded sections on the return from Mauves to Nantes. Several open-air cafés along the way offer refreshments and/or drinks at spots chosen for their tranquillity and ideal location.

Starting from Les Closes du Verger, you will discover a beautiful green area nestled between Treillières and La Chapelle-sur-Erdre. Through fields and forest paths, this is a lovely way to discover nature on the outskirts of Nantes.

An easy hike along three streams: le Cens, l'Erdre, and le Gesvres. Nature within the town of Nantes.

Semi-urban hike along three rivers that wind through Stream: the Cens, the Gesvres and the Erdre. The crossing over the Beaujoire bridge may be uncomfortable for people who are afraid of heights or have vertigo (especially on the stairs).

Stream: discover the city's historical, architectural and cultural heritage (and even its gastronomic heritage, with its small and large restaurants).

This circuit follows the Ognon, which feeds into the Lac de Grand Lieu, located a few kilometres to the west. You can find more information on the Pont Saint-Martin hiking website.

This beautiful walk begins with a visit to Chantrerie Park and its remarkable trees. A short detour behind some more or less heavily built-up areas will take you to Étang Hervé and then Port Breton. The return journey will then take you along the Erdre.

The trail starts at the port of Lavau-sur-Loire and takes you to the Observatory with a magnificent view of the marshes and the Loire. The walk then continues to the Étangs du Trou Bleu, a former blue granite quarry. Next, enjoy a country walk to the Fresnier marsh with its canals populated by storks.

After the lake of Vallée Mabile, the path leads the hiker below the Sillon de Bretagne to the marsh and its moat lined with trees and reeds, populated by grey herons feeding among the cows. You may also come across the corncrake, the bird with the most distinctive song.

This hike allows you to discover the Machecoul forest with its characteristic flora and rich forest birdlife, not to mention numerous rare or endangered insects.

Set off to explore the "Nortais" bocage, between the canal and sunken lanes. Along the way, discover the "La Tindière" lock, guest rooms and gourmet terrace. Along the Stream-Brest canal, you will find a covered picnic table along the towpath. Boating is available from March to October, allowing you to watch the pleasure boats.
