Bleialf walks

Bleialf is a small town in the Schneifel, a stone’s throw from the Belgian border.This walk begins on a nature trail that follows the Alfbach before heading towards the Birkenhof viewpoint.The region is gently undulating and mainly devoted to cereal farming.In season, you’ll therefore be walking through fields of wheat, barley, oats and so on, where the golden fields are broken up only by a few lush green copses.In the second part, the route becomes a little more wooded and crosses the Eschvenn wetland before climbing up to the Eifelblick viewpoint and its orientation table, which offers sweeping views of the northern horizon, including the Hautes-Fagnes in Belgium to the south and the Our Valley in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.You may also be lucky enough to spot the odd black stork landing or taking flight majestically as you approach. Common buzzards, black kites and kestrels are unlikely to be quite so rare.

Mostly wooded, this circular offers beautiful views on clear days over the countryside south of the German border towards Mützenich... not to be confused with the village of the same name in the municipality of Monschau, further north.

A long walk in the heart of the Eifel countryside, passing through three European countries: Belgium, Germany and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. You will discover the memorial dedicated to the founding of the Europe of Six.In addition to the landscapes of the Our valley and some of its tributaries, you will discover the incomparable Welchenhausen museum and its "sculpture trail".

Start and finish at the chapel in Tinseubois, where there is a small car park. It is easy to get there via the hamlet of Poteau or via Blanchefontaine. At the Ferme des Mauvaises, take the path to the right of the stone marker, then follow the meadow; you are on the former Belgian-Prussian border, which today separates the province of Liège from the province of Luxembourg. After 1.1 km, a path on the right will take you to Dewulf Road, which you’ll need to cross to reach the Schmitz Cross 1.75 km further on.If, by chance, you spot a beaver, please make sure you remain quiet.

A walk through the heart of the Elsenborn and Rocherarth forests will take you to a viewpoint that is unique in Belgium: Bieley Rock. A fairy-tale view of a valley with a small stream winding through it, reflecting a thousand colours. Whatever the season or weather, the incredible view from this spot is definitely worth the detour. From Troisvierges station, set off to explore the Cinqfontaines convent, an iconic site of the Second World War in Luxembourg. Continue this pleasant circular route towards Maulesmillen, taking in the panoramic views of the Luxembourg countryside.

Follow in the footsteps of fugitives and resistance fighters who used the forest paths, trails and little-used country roads along this route. A few information panels and, above all, the Kléngelbaach stream, a key point of passage between the two countries, await you along the way.

Set off to explore the north of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and, in particular, Clervaux Abbey. Please note: this hike is not circular and is based on the concept of walks from station to station. We chose to leave our vehicle at the free P+R car park at Drauffelt station, from where the train takes hikers to Troisvierges free of charge (1 train per hour on track 1).

The Bayehon is known for its waterfall, the second largest in Belgium after Coo. There are many Pouhon springs, naturally carbonated mineral springs, to discover along the route. You will finish with a tour of Reinhardstein Castle.

A pleasant walk that will take you to the Bayehon Waterfall, the second largest in Belgium. It is fed by the Hautes Fagnes springs, so its flow varies depending on the season. The route takes you through different types of vegetation, from deciduous trees to pines and the Fagne. Most of the route follows streams, which are crossed numerous times by small bridges.

A climb from Clervaux to a superb view of the abbey bell tower and the valley, then a route mainly through forest, finally returning along the Irbich river on country roads or dirt tracks. You can shorten the walk by continuing from (6) to Drauffelt station (6 km in total) and returning by train (free on the GDL).

A splendid hike along the Warche ridges, offering superb panoramic views of the region.The highlight is the beautifully renovated Reinhardstein Castle. In the early 1970s, it was a real ruin that we never imagined would be reborn in such a way! The first 2 kilometres of the walk take place in the countryside. The rest is almost entirely forest, passing notably by the rocky outcrop known as 'Nez de Napoléon', the Robertville dam, the Kalbusch Mill (campsite and tavern open from Thursday to Sunday) and the impressive Warche Quarry.

A very pleasant, signposted walk starting from the Eau Noire car park. The route is entirely flat and presents no difficulty in the Hautes Fagnes, with part of it on boardwalks.The only downside: depending on the wind direction, you can hear the Spa-Francorchamps route in the distance if it is in operation, as is the case with all walks in the region.

Clear streams, dark rivers laden with peat and cold springs accompany the walk.Deep forests, open moors and clearings follow one another, sheltering discreet fauna and specialised flora. A hike that is both wild and soothing, ideal for celebrating a special moment in an unspoilt landscape.

A really lovely walk around the various Fagnes, which are a little less crowded. There are several possible shortcuts, but the majority of the paths taken are well worth it.
