Between the Gourdon and the Bouzanne
According to legend, Lys-Saint-Georges owes its name to Philip Augustus and Richard the Lionheart, who are said to have reconciled in this village. Combining the Lily of France and Saint George, the patron saint of England, we get Lys-Saint-Georges. Its 14th-century castle, the remains of an ancient fortified castle with eleven towers, was restored and then altered in the 19th century. This castle belonged to Bertrand du Lys and was purchased in 1430 by Jacques Cœur. It has belonged to the Count of Reviers for over a century.

In addition to the Romanesque church of Saint-Martin (13th century), which houses part of the work of Abbé Aymond, you can also see the remains of the former Priory of Bois l'Abbé.
