Description of the walk

Park in the centre of Vouillon, in the car park near the junction between the RD 19 and the RD 925.

(S/E) Follow the RD 925 eastwards towards the small church, then go round it on the left.
Carry on straight ahead (Chemin de la Garenne) then take a track on the right. This leads back to the RD 925. Walk carefully along it until you reach a junction.

(1) Turn left to reach the Croix de St-Georges, then return to the crossroads.
Cross the RD 925 with care and take the track opposite.
Turn left onto a wider track, then turn right to cross the first section of the wind farm.
You’ll come to a junction.

(2) Leave the gravel track leading to the last wind turbines on the left and take the track on the right which leads to the village of Boisramier. Enter the village, turn right onto Rue du Carroir, pass two streets on the left, then turn right onto the RD 49 for 200 m.

(3) Continue left along Allée des Carrières and enter the forest. Turn right at the edge of the woods, then right again to enter the undergrowth. Turn right after 300 m, then right again for 50 m and turn left towards the west, plot no. 171. The path sometimes offers the choice of taking a rollercoaster ride through the old quarries or going round the hollows.
You’ll reach the banks of the Liennet stream.

(4) Follow it to the right. Emerge at a bridge over the RD 49; take the road to the left. Continue to the junction with the RD 19.

(5) Carry on straight ahead, then take the forest track to the right. Pass a path on your right and reach a wide white track; follow this to the right, heading north-west.

(6) Turn right and continue straight on to the edge of the woodland, then turn left to leave the forest at La Fosse au Loup.

(7) Turn right to walk through the second section of the wind farm. Continue straight on towards the north-east until you reach a small road; follow it to the right (rue des Ormes).

(8) When you reach the RD 19, turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).

A really lovely run – first close to the wind turbines, then along the paths through the woods, and finally along a track (just one slight downside: the grass was quite tall on this last stretch). I’d definitely recommend it!

A brilliant hike. At first, I couldn’t understand why it was rated as ‘moderate’. But as soon as I reached the forest, it all became clear. There were some steep climbs which I sometimes had to tackle on my bum, given the heavy rainfall over the last few days.

A lovely walk, especially the bit through the forest – it’s a shame the stream’s run dry!
