Description of the route

Start from the car park near the restaurant and the playground.

(S/E) Head west, either along the lake or via the car park. Walk round the lake.

(1) After crossing two small bridges, follow the tarmac road on your right. Pass through La Ferrandière and walk alongside the Bois de la Demoiselle and then the Bois du Passa to reach the D18.

(2) Turn left and follow the departmental road for a few metres, then take a limestone track on the right towards La Marinière.

(3) Carry on straight ahead, crossing the farm and passing close to a pond.

(4) Turn left onto a very narrow path between the trees (clearly marked with red signposts) and head down into the woods (caution: this section is a bit tricky on a bike).

(5) Cross the bridge over the Arnon and carry on straight ahead, passing between the mill buildings – make sure you stay on the path, as the mill and its surroundings are private property. Carry on via Les Planches and La Petite Forge until you reach the D18.

(6) Turn right onto the D18 towards Mareuil.

(7) Near the water tower, keep left and enter the village of Mareuil.

(8) Turn left at the small square to cross Mareuil via a quieter street.

(9) Continue left along the main street to reach the car park (S/E) .

The sunshine was lovely; we came across some little wild cyclamens along the way. The colours of the leaves on the trees were absolutely gorgeous – it’s just a shame there’s a bit too much road. We’d definitely recommend this walk.

With glorious weather and a pleasant morning temperature, it was a lovely walk.
To find the car park – as there are several – head along Route d’Issoudun (on the way out of the village) and look for the MANICET restaurant;

The narrow path to the left that’s mentioned – and described as tricky for cyclists – would have been even trickier today, and it was a challenge for walkers too, as there were five or six small trees blocking the way, but above all lots of brambles.
But everything else was perfect.
