Abondance walks

Hike, half road, half trail, loop, starting from the village centre, which offers several viewpoints of Pointe d'Autigny, Mont Jora, Mont de Grange and Mont Chauffé.

A small, unassuming peak, the Pointe de Lachau offers superb views of the Cornettes de Bise, the highest point in the area, and Mont Chauffé. Dominated by the impressive north face of Mont Chauffé, the Vallon d'Ubine is a beautiful setting and the simple climb to the Col d'Ubine is a lovely walk in itself with young children. N.B. A pretty little summit with extensive views, a short, easy climb in the wild setting of the Vallon d'Ubine with a beautiful view of the north face of Mont Chauffé.

A loop trail that takes you to the highest point of the Vallée d'Abondance Chablais, offering exceptional views of the Alps. A fairly wild climb up the Montagne de Pertuis, followed by a more conventional descent via the Crête de Coicon. Caution: near (4), there is a ridge that is a little exposed. A very beautiful loop trail with the ascent of Pointe d'Ardens, which offers a superb panorama of the Vallée d'Abondance, the Chablais peaks, the Dents du Midi and, in the distance, the Mont Blanc massif. This hike is best done early in the morning, when you can encounter marmots and Abondance cows in season.

An original route to reach Lake Darbon. The outward journey takes place in a wilder and less frequented setting than the usual route from the Chalets de Bise, which are crossed on the return journey due to a closed path on the original route. If you wish to avoid them, it is of course possible to return from the lake via the same route as on the outward journey. N.B. This superb hike offers beautiful views of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps and the Roc d'Enfer. When the sky is clear, you can admire the majestic Mont Blanc in the distance! The climb to La Chaux is on a road suitable for vehicles and through woodland. It is continuous, with no flat areas to stop for a break before reaching your destination. It is best to do it in one go! The view opens up as you walk. Finally, you will enjoy a peaceful grassy area in the sun, with even a picnic table! From there, you can enjoy the view of the surrounding peaks: Roc d'Enfer, Mont Blanc, Pic de la Corne and Roc de Tavaneuse.

An isolated summit offering superb 360° panoramic views of Lake Geneva to the north and, to the south, the Chablais, the Swiss Alps and the Mont Blanc massif. A steep but short climb, a beautiful half-day hike.

This is a varied and wild hike, a great opportunity to breathe in the pure mountain air while discovering the flora of the mountain pastures. Along the trail, admire the panoramic view of the Vallée d'Aulps and Lake Geneva. A superb hike starting from the Chalets de Bise, to discover Lake Darbon, a little gem nestled among the rocks. ⚠️ This route crosses the protected natural area of the Cornettes de Bise. To avoid disturbing the wildlife and preserve its habitat, please respect the regulations in force (see practical information). ANYONE WHO FAILS TO DO SO WILL BE FINED.

Set off to explore the village of Saint-Jean-d'Aulps. With its narrow streets and lanes, paths and trails along the river and through the hamlets, you will enjoy the peace and quiet of this family walk. Things to see along the way: Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, Aulps Abbey, Pont de la Tassonnière bridge, etc. Warning: this route crosses the D902, which is always very dangerous and requires great care.

Set off to explore the picturesque hamlets and villages of the Vallée d'Aulps: a hike where nature and culture intertwine throughout the route. Our cultural heritage, surrounded by remarkable nature, will hold no more secrets for you! Along the way, discover the villages of Seytroux, Le Biot, La Baume, the Jotty dam and the superb Mont Ouzon. A trail partly through the forest where you can enjoy the natural coolness of summer. Warning: this route crosses the D902 twice, which is very dangerous and requires great care.

This hike takes you to the Dent d'Oche. From this distinctive peak overlooking Lake Geneva, you can enjoy a magnificent 360° panorama of the Lake Geneva basin, the Jura and the Alps, including the Dents du Midi and the Mont Blanc massif. It's a difficult and exposed route, but the reward is well worth the effort when you reach the top!

Much less frequented than its famous neighbour, the Dent d'Oche, and 24 metres lower, the Roc du Château d'Oche offers no less of a majestic panorama, both of Lake Geneva and the Northern Alps. Up to the Chalets d'Oche, the route is the same as that for the Dent d'Oche, and from these chalets, the climb takes place in a wilder setting.

This loop takes a variation of the route to Dent d'Oche and offers magnificent views of Lake Geneva and the surrounding peaks.

Although not a high-altitude hike, it offers beautiful views of Lake Geneva and the Chablais massif.

This hike covers a moderate distance and elevation gain, making it a great opportunity to introduce young children or occasional walkers to the mountains. In a beautiful setting, you will reach two charming mountain lakes. There are several shorter or longer variations.

At an altitude of 1,627 metres, Pointe de Tréchauffé rises between the Dranse d'Abondance and Dranse de Morzine valleys. The route is often shaded but offers some beautiful views of these two valleys and the surrounding peaks. Superb panorama from the summit.

A lovely walk starting from the car park downstream from Lake Montriond. Follow the path along the lake shore and through the forest to reach the superb Ardent waterfall. The surroundings are magnificent. As the site is very popular, it is best to start the walk early in the day.

A there and back hike up to Roc de Taveneuse with views across to Abondance. This hike offers a challenging initial forest climb (hard relentless cardio but no rock climbs or cables/supports) but then opens up to mountain pastures with full panoramic shot of Mont Blanc (on a clear day). A further climb brings you to Roc de Tavaneuse with 360 views.

Climb to a local viewpoint offering a 360° panorama of the Vaud and Valais Alps, Mont Blanc, the Abondance Valley and the main peaks of the Chablais, as well as Lake Geneva. An excellent family hike. You can go as far as the pass or stop at the lake, which is already a very beautiful setting. Whether you're a keen hiker or simply looking to relax in the heart of nature, this walk is the perfect getaway. Soak up the tranquillity of the forest, cool off by the river and head to the village of Les Lindarets. A surprise awaits you in Les Lindarets: the famous Lindarets goats! Like holidaymakers, they come here to spend the summer grazing. Children will love feeding these free-roaming goats while their parents enjoy the village's sunny terraces.

Treat yourself to an invigorating break in the heart of nature. Take a shaded forest trail for a refreshing hike, lulled by the murmur of a stream and the discreet song of birds. The rocky walls that line the trail will remind you of the quiet power of the mountains. The climb, which is steady from the car park to the refuge, invites you to take your time. It starts off gently, giving way to a more challenging section shortly before the end — a final rewarding effort before reaching your destination, nestled in the heart of nature.

An easy hike from Lindarets, known for its goats and traditional architecture, to the magnificent Brochaux waterfall. The trail winds through the woods and you are lulled by the soothing murmur of a pretty river. As you approach the Cascade des Brochaux, you can hear the gentle murmur of the flowing water. The waterfall, a true natural gem, pours into a natural pool. It is the ideal place for a relaxing break, a picnic in the countryside or simply to enjoy the comforting peace and quiet.

A beautiful, challenging "all-in-one" hike: beautiful mountain pastures, views of the surrounding peaks (Mont de Grange and Cornettes de Bises), 360° panorama from the summit of Morclan (Dents du Midi, Mont Blanc massif, Lake Geneva, Rhône Valley, etc.).

A family walk that starts with a peaceful path along the Torrent de Seytroux, known here as the Nant de Seytroux. You will then set off to explore the hamlets of Seytroux and their traditional houses. Don't miss the view of the village centre with the Pic de la Corne in the background from the hamlet of Crêt!

The Pic de Borée offers superb panoramic views of both Lake Geneva and the Chablais massif. The route suggested here is probably not the most popular, but it offers an interesting variety of landscapes.

A pleasant hike near Morzine-Avoriaz. Climb up to the Col de l'Aup Conti, then cross the ridges. This easy hike offers magnificent views of the surrounding peaks. The start at Les Lindarets, "the village of goats", is unusual and you will be accompanied by lush flora along the way.

An easy hike in the hills above Montriond will take you along a forest path to the hamlet of Les Guéritolles, where you can enjoy a superb panoramic view of the villages of Montriond, Morzine and Essert-Romand. Along the way, you will see traditional granaries and alpine chalets while enjoying a magnificent view of the surrounding villages and peaks.

After a climb through the forest to wake up our muscles, we leave the mountain pastures of the Bas-Chablais Pre-Alps behind us. The route runs alongside several lakes and offers panoramic views stretching from the Jura mountains to the Mont Blanc massif before plunging down below the Cornettes de Bise.

Starting from Bernex, this circular is a great classic. Although long with a moderate elevation gain, the effort required is pleasantly rewarded by the dazzling panoramic views of the Mont Blanc massif, the Dents du Midi and the Bernese Oberland. Herds of ibex are often encountered near the Col de Pavis.

This easy hike is ideal for a relaxing outing in the mountains. From the shaded path leading to Les Brochaux to the magnificent panoramic views from the Mossettes chairlift, the route alternates between cool forests and breathtaking views. As you descend towards Lac Vert, the majestic Dents du Midi mountains reveal themselves in all their splendour, inviting you to enjoy a sunny picnic by the water's edge. The rest of the walk is just as gentle, following a panoramic path facing the Roc d'Enfer, with the added bonus of peaceful cows dotting the alpine landscape. N.B. The distance and, above all, the elevation gain shown are overestimated as they include a chairlift ride. For walking, allow for around 8 km of horizontal distance, 100 m of elevation gain and 750 m of elevation loss.

This is an easy hike. You will follow a quiet road throughout your hike. You will appreciate the cool shade provided by the trees. At the end of the path: the Seytrouset mountain pasture! Enjoy the alpine atmosphere in all its splendour to the sound of cowbells near the wooden chalets, typical of the Savoyard alpine environment.

Set off on an adventure by climbing Pointe d'Ireuse, an iconic peak offering breathtaking panoramic views. Once at the summit, you can enjoy a spectacular 360° panorama, taking in the majestic Mont Blanc, the impressive Dents du Midi, the sparkling waters of Lake Geneva and the superb Chablais mountains. This route, accessible to experienced hikers, will take you through the peaceful mountain pastures of Seytrouset and Nifflon d'en Haut. These authentic places, preserved by time, exude a unique atmosphere of calm, wilderness and sublime landscapes. With every step you take in these mountain pastures, you will find yourself immersed in a world of serenity, where the beauty of the mountains invites you to contemplate and recharge your batteries.

A pleasant walk beside the River Dranse from Chatel to Abondance, where it is possible to look around the Abbey. You can walk back the same way or there is a regular bus service in the valley. If you have a Chatel Multi-Pass the bus will be free.

Follow the river and enjoy a refreshing break during a walk along the banks of the Dranse. The Promenade des Dérèches is a flat, low-mountain trail alongside the river. It is not demanding and is ideal for a short morning jog or simply to relax. All around you, the background music is composed of two sounds: the trickling of the river and the singing of birds. The shelter of the trees and the proximity to the Dranse make for a pleasant walk without getting too hot.

From Morzine, take the ski lifts to quickly gain altitude and enjoy the fresh air. The trail takes you along the ridges, between flower-filled mountain pastures and spectacular views of Avoriaz, Lake Montriond and the surrounding mountains. Accessible and varied, this walk offers impressive viewpoints, flower-filled passages and the chance to stop for a bite to eat at the mountain restaurant. An ideal hike for getting away from it all with family or friends, while enjoying the mountains at a leisurely pace.

This is a short tour which is useful to fill a couple of hours; perhaps when you want to stretch your legs on a short and steep ascent, or if you have spent most of the day hurtling downhill on a mountain bike and you want to do something different. The Pointe de Cheserey can be easily ascended and descended using the same path as an out and return.

This hike takes you around two iconic twin peaks in the Chablais region, the famous Dent d'Oche and its lesser-known neighbour, the Château d'Oche. The first part of the loop offers superb views of the impressive north faces of these two peaks. The second part, via the chalets of Oche and the Portes du même nom, opens onto the Bise nature reserve and the lakes of Darbon and Neuteu. The final descent takes place in the forest near the French-Swiss border.

Niché dans un cadre sauvage, le Lac de Lovenex constitue le but de cette randonnée franco-suisse. On passe d'abord au Pas de Lovenex, afin de bénéficier d'une vue unique sur ce petit lac qui apparaît comme suspendu au-dessus du Lac Léman visible à l'arrière-plan.

A summit offering superb views of both Lake Geneva and the Chablais massif. This route via the south face offers a walk in a beautiful natural setting. It also avoids the hassle of the ski lifts at the Thollon ski resort (north face, more crowded).

La Dent d'Oche is accessible via various routes. This one starts from a place called "La Planche" above Novel. It passes through "les chalets de Neuteu", the Pavis pass, the portes d'Oche, the lac de la case, the planchamp pass, the dent d'Oche and returns via the Rebollion pass, the Neuve pass, the Neuva dessous, the enclos, and finally "la Planche". This route allowed us to see many ibex in different places and the local flora.

Reach the Graydon mountain pasture and its chapel by first taking the Roc d'Enfer cable car. You will then find yourself in a peaceful environment, surrounded by gentians and grazing cows, with Mont Blanc as a backdrop... The Graydon mountain pasture stretches out at the foot of the majestic Roc d'Enfer, where cows and goats graze peacefully on the lush grass around the small chapel surrounded by a magnificent valley.

A family walk through pastures with beautiful views of the Mémises, Mont César and Dent d'Oche, as well as Lake Geneva. This hike can be done in its entirety or in a shorter version.

A tour of the main peaks of the Mémises massif. A long and beautiful route, where you have time to enjoy the mountains. Splendid panoramic views of Lake Geneva, the Chablais and the Vaud Pre-Alps.

A three-loop circuit: one around Mont César, and two on the ridges via the eastern summit of Les Mémises and then via Pic des Mémises (western summit). The length of the route can be adjusted depending on weather conditions, fitness level or the time at which you start the hike. Splendid panoramic views of Lake Geneva and beautiful views of the north faces of the Dent d'Oche and Pic de Borée.

The Balcon des Mémises is a magnificent hike alternating between forest trails and walks along the ridges, with spectacular views of Lake Geneva, the Chablais and the Jura mountains throughout the return journey. This hike does not take the Passage de l'Échelle.

A beautiful hike at the foot of the majestic Roc d'Enfer. You will cross the alpine pasture, among colourful mountain flowers and grazing cows, to reach the Col Ratti, the highest point offering a sublime view of Mont Blanc and the Aravis. Along the way, you can admire traditional alpine chalets. And don't be surprised if you see a herd of chamois: they are abundant in this area, which is classified as a "Natura 2000" reserve.

Discover two glacial lakes: Lac Noir, nestled in lush greenery, and Lac de la Beunaz, which is also a popular summer leisure destination. This hike follows paths through forests and meadows, as well as small roads with very little traffic. It offers superb panoramic views of Lake Geneva to the north and the surrounding peaks to the south.

A hike in a very rural setting that follows paths or small roads with very little traffic. There are some beautiful views: on the way up, of the Dent d'Oche and the surrounding peaks, and on the way down, of the Jura Mountains and, in places, Lake Geneva. There are also two oratories to visit.
