Whilst the Morval Departmental Forest is well known to walkers, the village of Banthelu lies off the usual routes. But this little village is well worth a detour, if only for its history, as is Cléry-en-Vexin, which you also pass through before discovering the covered walkway of Bois Couturier.

An easy route, from the striking church in Nucourt to the outskirts of Magny-en-Vexin, via the old watercress beds of the Aubette.

Retrace the steps of Bourvil and Jean Gabin in Claude Autant-Lara’s film. Of course, all this remains rather imaginary, as very little of the film was shot on location. But there is still the route from Rue Poliveau to Rue Lepic and the pleasure of strolling through the streets of Paris. There is one more filming location that lies too far off the main route: 158 Boulevard Hausmann, now the Jacquemart-André Museum, where the scenes of the arrival at the Kommandantur were filmed.

Half urban, half rural route to discover old Meulan-en-Yvelines and the views over the Aubette and Seine valleys.

This is a route for walkers who enjoy charming, forgotten little paths that make you forget you’re only 50 km from Paris; however, the route is not always obvious and requires careful attention (the Visorando app is recommended). These paths are not always regularly maintained: bare legs are not recommended. Please note: currently (3 August 2026) the footbridge located after point (2) is closed for safety reasons. You must therefore follow Rue de Bachambre to the left to rejoin the route 500 m further on. I have not yet been able to obtain a date for its reopening.

A circular route to explore a little-known part of the French Vexin Nature Park. Passing through the Aubette Valley and the Gerville Valley, you’ll discover the Gerville Tower, the remains of a former 12th-century commandery, and the 18th-century Château de Magnitot. This route can be complemented by a stroll through the old streets of Magny-en-Vexin.

A route to explore the former Saint-François quarries, whose stone was transported down the Seine to build Parisian monuments, and the hamlet of Bézu, which has been abandoned since the quarries closed. The route first crosses the Forêt de la Roche-Guyon before climbing the slopes of the Epte valley. The end of this walk offers the chance to stroll through the streets of the typical village of Chérence.
