Description of the walk

From the centre of Gommecourt, take Rue des Écoles, which climbs towards Bennecourt. Continue straight on, leaving the village; the car park is at the top of the hill, on the left-hand side of the road.

(S/E) Leaving the car park, follow the road to the left, heading down towards the Seine for about 400 m.

(1) Take a good path called Rue de la Vieille Charrière, which continues downhill to the left of the road. Follow this path to reach the hamlet of Clachalôze.

(2) Cross the D100 with care, continue straight ahead, pass a small car park then turn right onto a grassy path that runs alongside a former sports ground. From the path, you can admire the chalk cliffs and the old cave church of Tripleval on your right.

(3) At the first crossroads, turn left towards the banks of the Seine. Retrace your steps and turn left. At the small electricity substation, continue straight on until you rejoin the D100 and carry on in the same direction for 200 m.

(4) Turn right onto Rue de la Tête and, at the end, continue straight on along a path that climbs steeply in hairpin bends. When you reach the top, ignore a path coming from the left and continue for 100 m until you reach a track branching off to the right.

(5) Turn onto this track, which enters a wood, and, on emerging, continue straight ahead. At the end of the track, turn 90° to the left. Continue and take the first track on the right, which descends steeply.

(6) At the bottom, take the first path on the left which climbs up and, at the top, the first path on the right (GR®). The path descends again and comes to a road.

(7) Cross the road, continue straight ahead (GR®) and climb a hill. At the top, the path reaches a woodland. Ignore the path branching off to the right at the edge, enter the forest and continue to the next crossroads.

(8) Follow the path to the right (red and white markings), pass the first gate and, as soon as you leave the woods before the second gate, take a small grassy track to the right which runs parallel to the path and leads to a signpost. Continue along the track, which rejoins the path at the car park (S/E).

Very nice route, very few roads to follow.
Magnificent views.
No major difficulties, but the first climb at the end of the lane is challenging.
Easy to follow route with the app.

A pretty nice 8 km loop 👍
The descent is fairly straightforward but the climb back up is relatively gradual, after the banks of the Seine, through rolling fields and a pleasant little wood at the end of the day in August.

A lovely walk with no particular difficulties, offering magnificent views over the Seine Valley and the old cave church at Tripleval (you’ll need a good lens on your camera! )

Thank you for sharing.
