Montrodat walks

A picturesque walk in the hills above Montrodat The Chazelles trail (Chazelles meaning ‘old shepherds’ huts’ in Occitan) offers interesting views over the Marvejols area, the Aubrac and the surrounding Trucs hills. It crosses the Poujoulet plateau, criss-crossed by low stone walls.

The 13th-century Church of Sainte-Hippolyte, destroyed by the Huguenots in 1562, was rebuilt in 1630. It is partly built of limestone tuff. Several quarries were located in the area near the streams.

From the banks of the Lot and its lush grassy meadows, the historic private château of Ressouches presents itself magnificently to the passer-by, and the hamlet of Le Villard, just before the climb up to the plateau, is sure to make an impression.

On the rocky spur overlooking the Lot, downstream from Chanac, there are two settlements: Le Villard Vieux, the first hilltop village, and Le Villard Jeune, the second village. In the Middle Ages, Le Villard was part of the domain of the Château de Chanac, an episcopal possession of which only the famous keep remains today.The route differs from the marked route by remaining below the Causse du Villard before reaching the "fortified" village. The return to Chanac, along the Lot, allows you to see the Château de Ressouches (private) along the way and offers the opportunity to visit the village at the end of the walk.

Four-day loop in Aubrac to discover the landscapes of Lozère, with stages of around 20 km. This route mainly follows the GRP® Tour des Monts d'Aubrac (yellow and red markings) and the GR® 65 (Way of St James) in the opposite direction.

A short, easy walk around Lac du Moulinet on an easy path with pontoon bridges over marshy areas. The beach is popular in summer with swimming and water sports available. Bar on site. Magnificent in autumn and winter.

This route allows you to discover the unusual "Lion" that dominates Balsièges. From its rocky outcrop, it watches over the valley. The hiking trail that runs along the Ravin du Choizal and the slopes of the Causse de Sauveterre will take you to the village of Les Fonts.

A pleasant hike through oak and beech forests to discover the Fagette waterfall and the hamlets of Asprettes and La Fagette, with their superb granite houses and old ovens.

The soul of Aubrac speaks to us on this trail, among dense forests, radals, century-old crosses and singing boraldes.

Walk around Rieutort-de-Randon with a view of the Randon signal.

A circular route starting from Rieutort-de-Randon along forest paths that will take you to the Truc de Fortunio orientation point. It offers a 360° panorama (views of the Aubrac, Lozère, Lake Charpal, etc.) You will then head back down to the Charpal Dam before following the Colagne river back to your starting point.

This second, long stage, which is partly shaded, ends at Buron des Rajas, at the foot of Signal de Mailhebiau, the highest point in Aveyron, in a vast, wild desert landscape.
