Le Gosier walks

This fairly challenging walk takes you along Petit Havre Bay, keeping you in the shade under the trees whilst offering views at certain points. It’s an excellent way to keep fit.

A short hike through savannahs, sugarcane fields, Creole gardens and woodland, with a few views of the sea and a brief stretch along the edge of the mangrove.

I suggest a short walk in the countryside on the heights of Sainte-Anne, in the Grands Fonds, which I call Calvaire-Louisiane. A somewhat hidden path where hills and valleys formed by rainwater runoff follow one another. Between the hills, a maze of dirt tracks links the villages. It won’t be circular, but rather a ‘lollipop’ with its stick. It may be slippery and muddy, but it’s often nicely shaded.

A marked trail created by the local council through the mangroves and savannahs of Guadeloupe between the famous Babin Beach and the town of Vieux-Bourg, Morne-à-l'eau. Animals, shells and palm trees add to the charm of this walk.

This hike takes you along the Moustique River to Moustique Canyon. This beautiful canyon, sculpted by nature, allows you to swim and wade through the water up to its small waterfall. The water is shallow, so adults do not need to swim. You can enjoy the natural surroundings and tranquillity along the river.

A gem in the heart of the tropical forest: two waterfalls and a beautiful pool to discover. This circular route starts with a forest trail. Along the way, you will be immersed in the humid atmosphere and amazed by the majestic trees, the scent of incense, the wild orchids and the epiphytic plants.

A short hike in the forest to discover a very pretty waterfall that is ideal for swimming.

A very easy walk that takes you along the white sandy beaches with the characteristic palm trees of Bois Jolan, the surfing beach of Gros Sable at Helleux with its turquoise sea and the mangrove in the background. A relaxing moment to discover the typical landscapes of Grande Terre: ponds, pools and a beautiful forest area consisting mainly of black mapou trees. Much of the route is shaded.

This hike will take you into the heart of Guadeloupe's tropical rainforest. The trail leads to the Moreau Falls, where you can swim. Access is prohibited by municipal decree until further notice due to an extremely high risk of rockfalls and mudslides. See here. 

In the heart of the rainforest, in Petit-Bourg, a river trek featuring waterfalls, gorges and cascading steps. It is a demanding trail, as it involves a lot of walking in the river, but in an exceptional setting.

I will take you to Le Moule for a hike that starts at Bois Baron (paragliding launch pad) and goes to Anse Maurice. This route along the coast of Grande-Terre is perhaps one of the most beautiful. There are many viewpoints, each more impressive than the last. The view of the coast and the town of Le Moule is magnificent. But it has to be earned, as the route is difficult with climbs and descents, often requiring the use of ropes. We will pass by Anse Archange Neau and the Anse à l'Écu ravine before arriving at Pointe and Anse Sainte-Marguerite, where we will stop in front of the Slave Memorial before reaching Anse Maurice. This is a linear route: leave a car at Anse Maurice if you do not want to make the return trip.

A pleasant walk between the sea and the mangroves in an idyllic setting. The sea is like a lake as you are near the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin. The path leads to several lovely little beaches. Mangroves are present throughout the route, along with other tropical species. Upon arrival on the other side of Pointe Sable de Bar, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the former Beautiran sugar cane loading port and the Petit-Canal dock. A long but easy walk.

Naca Waterfall is situated on the ravine of the same name in the Muraille area of the commune of Sainte-Rose. The challenging route to reach this waterfall consists, in the first part, of a forest walk through vanilla plantations and past gigantic acomats; in the second part, of a water trek to discover the waterfalls and beautiful pools of this river; and finally, of the grand 30-metre waterfall.

A short hike through the rainforest to admire the last Carbet waterfall, which plunges into a large pool and invites you to take a dip.

A walk through the tropical forest and, after a long effort, you will be rewarded at the foot of the two 100-metre-high waterfalls.

Le Morne Léger won’t offer you a sweeping view, but the climb, which is not difficult, will treat you to the lovely atmosphere of a tropical forest.

A short climb to a summit located on the watershed between the Caribbean coast and the Atlantic coast of Basse-Terre. On a clear day, there are views of the sea on both sides.

Hike through the Guadeloupean rainforest from the Sofaïa Sulphurous Spring to the Saut des Trois Cornes waterfall.

Take a refreshing dip at the foot of the Galion waterfall before tackling the climb up the Armistice trail towards the cistern. Please note that this hike takes around 4 hours.

This hike takes you to La Soufrière, the highest point in Guadeloupe and a dormant volcano. In good weather, the view is magnificent. At the summit, you can truly appreciate the power that lies beneath your feet. Please note that a large section of this trail is currently closed due to the risk of rockfalls and increased volcanic activity.

Climb the Vieille Dame via the traditional route and return via the Col de l'Échelle, then finish the hike with a nice hot bath at the Bains Jaunes. Please note that a large section of this route is currently closed due to the risk of rockfalls and increased volcanic activity.

A demanding hike on the slopes of La Soufrière, combining volcanoes, spectacular landscapes and historical discovery with the DC-3 wreck. The section leading to the wreck is the most complicated, very muddy and technical, requiring balance and endurance, while the rest of the route is more accessible. This hike is not suitable for non-athletes or those unaccustomed to challenging terrain, but it offers incredible views and unique memories for those who dare to venture there.

The Matouba interpretive trail is a pleasant circular hike through tropical forest, starting from the Matouba Forest Centre in Saint-Claude. This moderate-difficulty hike leads to the cool Rivière Rouge and then on to the Matouba Hot Springs, nestled in the heart of the Soufrière massif. With its lush vegetation, river crossings and the chance to discover Guadeloupe’s natural heritage, this route offers a wonderful immersion in the rainforest of Basse-Terre.

Starting from the Beausoleil picnic area at the foot of La Soufrière, this waterfall is located between the Trace Delgrès and Rivière Noire. Start at the Trace Delgrès to discover this unique, fairly high waterfall. On the way back, take a detour to the first Rivière Noire pool for a superb reward.
