Naca Ravine Waterfall

Naca Waterfall is situated on the ravine of the same name in the Muraille area of the commune of Sainte-Rose. The challenging route to reach this waterfall consists, in the first part, of a forest walk through vanilla plantations and past gigantic acomats; in the second part, of a water trek to discover the waterfalls and beautiful pools of this river; and finally, of the grand 30-metre waterfall.

Description of the walk

Park before the barrier on Chemin Germain Georges.

(S/E) Continue along the forest road for about 1.4 km.

(1) Look for a path on the right that heads into the forest and follows the crest of the ridge to a fork.

(2) Continue straight on, following the ridge until you reach a ravine.

(3) Descend it to the river.

(4) Follow the river upstream to the confluence with Dame Hélène.

(5) Continue to the right to stay on the Naca. Pass a series of small waterfalls and gorges where swimming will be necessary, except for taller people. Reach the Naca Waterfall.

(6) Enjoy the spot and perhaps have your lunch break here. Set off again, retracing your steps until you reach the fork on the ridge.

(2) Head down the path on the right.

(1) Continue along the track to the gate (S/E).

Notes

For the outward journey: 1.8 km on a forest track + 3.5 km of forest path with a 300 m elevation gain + 2 km along the river with a 150 m elevation gain
In total, just over 14 km there and back.

Waterproof rucksack.

Only go in dry weather; the path would be too muddy, making the ascents and descents more difficult and extending the duration of the hike.

Set off early as it gets dark in the forest from 4 pm.
