Calvaire-Louisiane on the heights of Sainte-Anne

Park along the Route de Liard Saint-Robert and walk back down a little to find the start.

(S/E) At the bend, take a path; it’s not the most visible one, but the one furthest to the left. Continue on to reach a crossroads near the Rivière de l’Anse à la Barque.

(1) Turn right uphill onto the narrow, poorly marked path. Descend quickly to reach a cluster of houses.

(2) Continue at a leisurely pace through varied landscapes ranging from rainforest to open meadows. You’ll come to another crossroads near the river you crossed earlier.

(3) Turn right onto the path on the left bank of the river. Gradually leave the path until you reach another fork.

(4) Turn right and reach the edge of the woods. Turn left and pass the forest track. Descend slightly to reach the low point.

(5) Turn left at a 90° angle, then operate a circular loop to the right to reach the houses in Louisiane.

(6) Turn left onto Chemin de Fonds Baba, then leave it on the right at the next junction. Continue along the path that follows it, reaching the Rivière de l'Anse à la Barque at the Route de Liard Saint-Robert.

(7) Turn left and follow the river; shortly afterwards, you will come to the fork you passed earlier.

(4) Retrace your steps along the route you took on the way there.

(3) Continue along the river to reach the original crossroads.

(1) Turn right and, heading in the opposite direction to the outward journey, return to the car park on Route de Liard Saint-Robert (S/E).

Between (2) and (3): you’ll pass orange lantanas, diffenbacchias and cows.
