The Volvestre Intercommunal Tourist Office offers a marked and secure route.Between small roads and paths, this walk takes you through the hillsides, offering magnificent views of the Pyrenees. You will pass through several wooded areas and numerous fields, where it is not uncommon to see farm animals and crops in bloom. Renowned for the quality of its skies, Latrape is the perfect place to observe the beauty of the stars and sunsets. If you would like to learn more about astronomy, Le Balcon des Étoiles is located at the start/end of the loop.
On the hills above Montbrun-Bocage

Circuit from Notre-Dame de Montaut to Montbrun-Bocage
A family walk on well-maintained and marked trails through forests, pastures and varied landscapes, with a view of the Pyrenees from the ridge. This route allows you to discover a rich heritage: the village with its half-timbered houses, a ruined castle, an outdoor sculpture exhibition, and more. The loop begins or ends, depending on your choice, at Lac de Bouydou, a fishing lake with pontoons, picnic tables and a barbecue. This route can be done in either direction.
Loop around Montfa
A beautiful hike on the Plantaurel massif which, from the village of Monfa, will take you on well-marked trails with beautiful climbs to discover surprising local habitats, beautiful views, the Roc du Cor, the Les Moulis Ecomuseum, the hamlet of Camarde, and the Couminge dolmen. You may see herds of geese, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses.

The Chemin du Castéra and Chemin de Monléon in Montesquieu-Volvestre
Starting from the beautiful medieval village of Montesquieu-Volvestre, discover a rural getaway on the paths and ridge roads. After a beautiful climb, you can admire the Pyrenees mountain range from the Castera orientation table. It was made of ceramic by the famous artist Toutain with the children of the village. The peaks of the Pyrenees will hold no more secrets for you! A picnic table awaits you right next to it. The panorama sometimes offers 360° views of the Arize plain and the Volvestre hillsides. At the end of the route, you will quickly follow the wild Arize river.
The hills of Montbrun-Bocage via Les Cabanères
This walk will allow you to explore the open countryside around Montbrun-Bocage and take you to the Plantaurel ridge via old paths and forest tracks. You will come across numerous springs and streams. A GPS will be essential as signposting is virtually non-existent.
Loops of La Coque and Saint-Pierre Chapel in Birac
This short, figure-of-eight walk takes you along quiet paths and trails where you can observe wildlife, the hillside forest and the 14th-century Saint-Pierre de Birac Chapel. In spring, you can see many different species of orchids; there is an information panel behind the chapel to help you identify them.
Please note: the ford over the Camedon stream between (1) and (2) is inaccessible during periods of high water (footbridge destroyed by bad weather).
Lacaugne circular loop

The Lacaugne circular hike is a family hike suitable for children aged four and above. Recharge your batteries in Volvestre, surrounded by countryside and views of the Pyrenees.
Please note: the route is still marked and exists, but you have to pass under 1-metre-high agricultural wires between (2) and (3). This problem is currently being resolved.
Montgazin Hills Route
The Volvestre Inter-municipal Tourist Office offers a signposted and safe route. Starting from Montgazin, explore the heart of the Lèze Valley’s hills with breathtaking views of the Pyrenees.
Pech de Limouzy from Loubens
A family circular offering exceptional views of the Pyrenees and the plains of Ariège. This hike takes you through meadows, undergrowth and then forest, on very pleasant paths and tracks. It is also a livestock farming area, so please keep an eye on your dog.
Laurède circular loop
A pleasant route between the river and hillsides in the commune of Cintegabelle. It allows you to enjoy the Ariège river, then offers magnificent views of the Lauragais crops, as well as the plain below and the Pyrenees in the distance.
Cintegabelle dovecote circular loop
This route around Cintegabelle combines the charm of the banks of the Ariège and Grand Hers rivers with the beauty of the panorama from the crests of the hills. The view of the Pyrenees gradually opens up as you walk, and the village emerges in the foreground.
Circular of Tute de la Maine
This beautiful route in the commune of Cintegabelle leads to the unique Tute de la Maine, the troglodyte dwelling of Germaine and her twelve children in the 19th century. It follows peaceful paths along the banks of the Grand Hers and through the forest, while others offer views of the Lauragais hills, the Ariège plain and the Pyrenees.

The "balade des abris" (shelter walk) takes you in the footsteps of the visual artist and sculptor Laurent Cadilhac, who created nine shelters combining history, art and sculpture. You will start the walk in the Bois de Castres, which also has an orienteering course, a fitness trail and a socio-cultural centre.
