Description of the walk

Start from the car park behind Saint-Barthélemy Church.

(S/E) Follow the road towards the village centre.

(1) At the Croix des Missions crossroads, turn left down the road towards Montesquieu-Volvestre. Follow the D40, ignoring the paths on the right, then continue on the D25. Ignore the D74 on the left and continue for a few metres until you reach the junction with the D40.

(2) Turn left towards Montesquieu-Volvestre. Cross the bridge over the Camedon and ignore a road on the left.

(3) At the start of the left-hand bend, turn right onto the wide dirt track and continue straight on. This eventually becomes a tarmac road, then a dirt track again.
Pass the Asque farm and reach a small tarmac road at a place called Château de Mailholas.

(4) Turn right and head down to the D25.

(5) Turn left and follow this road carefully for 1.2 km until you reach the junction on the right leading to Bergeras Farm (just after a bridge).

(6) Follow this road uphill to the end.

(7) At the junction for Le Pierrou, continue along the dirt track, which marks the start of the ridge path. In good weather, enjoy the view of the Pyrenees.
Continue along this path, pass Mauménat and arrive at the D73.

(8) Turn right and head towards Latrape.

(1) Once you reach the Croix des Missions, head towards the church (S/E).

The place known as Chateau de Maiholas is very disappointing, as it is nothing more than a very ordinary house. A detour via the village of Bax is well worth it.

I’ve just come back from this recce hike as a club leader – what a let-down! With my GPS in hand, I covered 10km, but only 2km² of that was on a path (a farm track)...You shouldn’t mistake VISORANDO for the Routard guide. I was lucky to have clear weather when I set off in the morning, which gave me a beautiful view of the Pyrenees; then it clouded over and there really wasn’t anything interesting left to see...

A rather uninteresting route involving too much walking along roads. Otherwise, it’s easy and offers some stunning views of the Pyrenees.

Hello
I was very disappointed with this walk, as the title suggests a ridge walk, but in the end it only reaches the ridge right at the very end; the rest of the route is down in the valley along fields with nothing of interest in terms of nature or scenery. Almost the entire walk is on tarmac; what’s more, the other side of the valley is more interesting as it overlooks the plateau with some lovely views. In short, I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this walk
Happy hiking to you all!

Hello everyone.
We went on a hike in lovely weather; it’s a beautiful route with superb views of the Pyrenees and the surrounding valleys. However, most of the route is on tarmac, which is a bit of a shame, but it’s not easy to plan a route. Thank you for introducing us to this lovely route.
