Trapezoidal loop

The Volvestre Intercommunal Tourist Office offers a marked and secure route.
Between small roads and paths, this walk takes you through the hillsides, offering magnificent views of the Pyrenees. You will pass through several wooded areas and numerous fields, where it is not uncommon to see farm animals and crops in bloom. Renowned for the quality of its skies, Latrape is the perfect place to observe the beauty of the stars and sunsets. If you would like to learn more about astronomy, Le Balcon des Étoiles is located at the start/end of the loop.

Description of the walk

From Rieu-Volvestre, take the D627 towards Carbonne, then the D25 towards Bax. After about 10 kilometres, turn left onto the D40 and drive to the church in the village of Latrape.

(S/E) With your back to the church, head towards the village centre along the departmental road. After about 10 kilometres, take the first road on the right, Chemin du Coin d'Augé. Continue straight ahead until you reach the departmental road again. Follow it carefully to the right until the next crossroads.

(1) Follow the signs for Berges on the right. Ignore the road on the left. You will then come to another junction.

(2) Leave the main road and take the dead-end road. Pass a house on your left, then one on your right. Continue until the next intersection.

(3) Well before the right-angle bend in the tarmac road, take the dirt track that descends to the right. Continue straight ahead and then continue downhill to the stream. Walk along and cross it to continue on the other side until you reach the main road.

(4) Once you reach the main road, turn right (take care). Take the path on the left at the edge of the forest and follow it to the main road, keeping to the left.

(5) Turn left onto the road and continue straight ahead until the end of the dirt track. When you reach a field, cross the stream and turn left. Follow the stream to the large bridge.

(6) Turn right and follow the path up to the main road. Follow it to the right, taking care, until you reach the village centre (S/E).

Be careful at the last farm 20 minutes before arriving, there is an aggressive dog that bit us. Be wary. Sorry, this is the "Latrape ridge trail" hike, not the "Trapeenne loop" hike. Sorry

Hello,
I would like to clarify something about the start of the walk so that we don't end up going round in circles.
Starting from the church entrance behind you, continue on for 50 metres until you reach Chemin du Coin d'Augé.
It's a nice walk, but a bit too much road for my liking, even though there isn't much traffic.
Happy hiking, everyone!

A lovely little walk in the hills, partly on well-maintained farm tracks, forest paths and quiet country roads. The overcast weather meant we couldn't enjoy the view of the Pyrenees.
We'll have to do it again when the weather is clearer, but not too hot.
