Gouaux-de-Larboust walks
Cap des Arjoulents
Snowshoe hike starting from the village of Oô.
11 km of fun, through forests, past cabins and viewpoints.
This is a little-used route, ideal if you are looking for peace and quiet and want to enjoy nature. With a bit of luck, you may encounter a few deer who, like us, have come to enjoy the incomparable silence.
Circular in the Larboust Valley and the Oueil Valley
Not far from Bagnères-de-Luchon, there is a beautiful balcony walk offering magnificent views of the ridge on the border with Spain. Not to mention two very beautiful valleys and a few charming mountain villages, which hide architectural treasures that are well worth a visit.
Towards Lac d'Oô
A lovely walk gradually ascending towards the artificial Lac d'Oô and the large waterfalls that feed it.
Granges d'Astau - Lac du Portillon
Starting from Les Granges d'Astau, there is a long climb with some steep sections, made more pleasant by the presence of several lakes. Lac d'Oô and its inn, and Lac d'Espingo in its magnificent setting are ideal places to stop for a break. After Lac du Saussat (pronounced Sa-ou-sat), the much smaller Lac de la Coume de l'Abesque marks the start of the steep, winding climb that leads to a plateau dotted with smooth rocks and small lakes, and then to the Jean Arlaud refuge.
Espingo Lake
On the trail of the GR10, the Granges d’Astau and Espingo Lake, via Lake Oô.

A short, easy circular, well shaded and suitable for families, with beautiful views of the valley and Lake Génos-Loudenvielle
The Moulor Tower and Lake Genos-Loudenvielle
Starting from the centre of Loudenvielle, this lovely route offers exceptional views of Lake Génos while recounting the history of the town. It is not particularly difficult and can be enjoyed by the whole family, although it is best to choose a dry day as the stones can be slippery when wet.
From Superbagnères to Pic du Céciré via the new route
Climbing the 2,404 metres of Céciré is always a great experience, as the view from the summit is breathtaking, but part ofthe GR® 10 route to reach it is very dangerous and prone to accidents. Fortunately, to continue enjoying this classic route, I suggest taking the new, saferGR® 10 route.
The Lapadé Forest and Roc de Courtalets
Starting from the Val Louron ski resort (65), this short, easy hike takes you up to the heights of the resort, through the Lapadé Forest. The hike can be done on foot or with snowshoes in winter. Several viewpoints along the route offer beautiful views of the valley.
Nature and heritage route starting from Bagnères-de-Luchon
This medium-altitude hike offers a multitude of sumptuous views over the valleys to the west of Bagnères-de-Luchon: the One, Larboust and Oueil valleys. There is something to delight every hiker, not to mention the small, beautifully restored villages with their first-rate religious architectural heritage. A little bit of tarmac is quickly forgotten thanks to the beauty of the surrounding nature and landscapes.
Circular Bagnères-de-Luchon via Cazarilh-Laspènes
A short hike to discover a small mountain village.
A view of Bagnères-de-Luchon and its surroundings.
Lac Vert loop via the Coume hut
This is a beautiful hike during which you will discover stunning waterfalls, a beautiful view of the Luchonnais region and, the highlight of the show, the green waters of the lake of the same name. However, due to its elevation, length and a few tricky sections, this route requires a good level of fitness.
Lake Pouchergue
A beautiful, long hike starting from Pont du Prat in Val Louron. For those who enjoy exercise and endurance, the variety of views along the route is sure to impress!
Soula refuge
A very beautiful hike which, initially through the woods with informative signs, allows you to cover the elevation gain without even noticing. Ideal for children. Then the Clarabide Gorges with the path carved into the rock are magnificent and the reward is not far away.I would like to point out that, having done this hike again, the altitude figures given by the Visorando software are incorrect. The elevation gain is around 550 m.
Lake Caillauas
A very beautiful hike which, initially through the woods with explanatory panels, allows you to cover the elevation gain without even noticing. Then the Clarabide Gorges with the balcony path carved into the rock are magnificent. From the refuge to the lake, the landscape becomes more rocky. On arrival, there is a splendid view of the 3,000 m mountain range. I would say it is more difficult than very difficult, as recommended by Visorando
Clarabide Gorges - Upper lakes of the Louron Valley
Long circular loop for very good walkers.
Pont du Prat - Clarabide Gorges - Refuge de la Soula - Lac de Caillauas and Lac de Pouchergues.

Loop trail between the Aure and Louron valleys
A simple hike with an almost continuous 360° view of the Aure and Louron valleys and the surrounding peaks (Arbizon, Lustou, Abeille, etc.). The quietest hikers are sure to spot squirrels, wild boars and birds of prey in the forest.
Accessible on foot, snowshoes or mountain bike, with a slight elevation gain (mainly on three short steep climbs).
No signposting but 90% of the route is on forest tracks and clean pastures. Crosses two small streams.
Mont Né, Lac de Bordères and Pic du Lion from Port de Balès
A beautiful hike that can be done with the family and children who are used to walking, starting from the well-known Port de Balès (altitude 1755 m) (Tour de France cycling race). The summit of Mont Né (altitude 2,147 metres) offers beautiful views of the central Pyrenees and the magnificent Lac de Bordères or Lac de Bareilles. From Pic du Lion (altitude 2,102 metres), there is a safe aerial path along the Crête de la Coume du Lion. The cromlech at Port de Pierrefite is also worth noting.
Lake Bordères (de Bareilles) from the Port de Balès
Easy hike to the Lac de Bordères (Bareilles) via the Port de Pierrefite, with superb views of the Pyrenees.
Moderator's warning as of 25/01/2021: Warning! In winter, the starting point at Port de Balès may be inaccessible by car. See the notice below dated 25/01/2021
Belvédère du Mont Né via the Crête de la Pale
Belvédère du Mont Né (Mont Né viewpoint) is a fitting name for this mountain, as the views you will discover throughout this hike are breathtaking. In good weather, this route does not present any major difficulties. What's more, you will start from Port de Balès, a famous stage of the Tour de France.
Lac de Sarrouyes
A very beautiful hike that is accessible to everyone. The descent into the steeply-sided Sarrouyes valley retains a wild appearance. The end of the climb is in the middle of a meadow, following the stream. You may see many marmots here.
Lacs des Miares
A very beautiful hike. The descent into the steep-sided Sarrouyes valley retains a wild aspect. The climb to Lac de Sarrouyes takes you through meadows, following the stream. You may see many marmots here. From the Lac de Sarrouyes junction, the climb to Lac des Miares becomes more challenging. Good physical condition is recommended. I would say it is difficult rather than very difficult, as recommended by Visorando.
