Les Granges de Labach and Col de la Coume

A very pleasant circular route, mostly in the forest, with beautiful views of the Larboust Valley and the Val d'Astau.

Description of the walk

Head to the centre of the village of Oô. You can park in the town hall car park along the main road (D76).

(S/E) From the car park, take the footbridge over the Neste d'Oô. Turn left to walk along its right bank and follow the path to a crossroads at Moulin Paduran.

(1) Turn right at the hairpin bend onto the track leading up to Labach de Cazeaux, as indicated on a sign. A few metres further on, pass through afirst barrier. Then follow several hairpin bends on a very pleasant grassy track. You will reach asecond barrier.

(2) Continue to reach the hamlet of Granges de Labach.

(3) Continue through the hamlet and return to a track, which you will follow to the right. About a hundred metres after the last house, take the path that branches off to the right towards Col de la Coume, indicated by a small sign. Follow the cairns in the forest to reach a clearing. Continue to join a track.

(4) Turn right and continue along the track to reach the Barbourride fountain.

(5) Leave the track here and turn right to quickly reach the Cabane de Barguère du Milieu.

(6) Continue downhill on the path to reach Pont d'Oô, cross the river and return to the car park opposite the town hall (S/E).

A beautiful hike with a pleasant first section under the trees, a very steep section after the barns of Labach and a technical descent towards Oô.
The views of the Labourst and Astau valleys from the heights and the Col de la Coume are superb. The small hamlet of Les Grandes de Labach is well worth a detour.

Hello,
Having travelled extensively in this region, I would like to point out that the hut you mention in your guidebook at number 5 cannot be the Barguères hut, which is located much higher up in the valley leading to the summit of Coume de Bourg and is inaccessible from the Barbourride fountain.
This hut, which can be reached quickly, as you indicate, from the fountain, by going down to the right (I just passed by there today), has no name...
Best regards
Anne

Hello, everyone.
A very pleasant hike in warm weather, up to the barns of Labach on a steady climb, then the slope of the mountain trail becomes steeper. Once you reach the pass, the trail is almost flat, then descends steadily to the village of Oô. Beautiful views of the surrounding peaks, quite a few aggressive horseflies (perhaps due to the heat). Thank you for sharing.

A very beautiful walk, well signposted. Only the path on the right at the exit of the Labach barns needs to be watched carefully. At worst, you can take a detour by staying on the track, so it's not a big deal.
