This climb can be shortened by taking the Crêt du Midi chairlift (fee applies) from Praz-sur-Arly. A day hike with no particular difficulty

The Croix de Varzéron as seen from the Gorges de l’Arly
Cool and refreshing! That’s the key phrase to describe this walk. Even during a heatwave! In such conditions, do make sure to tackle the climb in the morning. Roughly 95 per cent of this walk is in the shade. And then there’s that footbridge, about a hundred metres long, spanning the Arly torrent. Not to mention the torrents and numerous waterfalls you’ll come across on your way to the village of Cohennoz, with its very unique eco-museum, which is well worth a visit.
Croix de Coste
