Cornillon walks

Set off to explore the old village of Cornillon.

Easy loop from the hamlet of La Bastide d'Orniols in the commune of Goudargues in the Gard. Heath, pine forest, chapels, drystone shelters, stone houses. It is possible to start in the village of Goudargues, see Practical Information below.

A short, picturesque walk from Salazac to the smallest village in the Gard-Rhône region, Saint-Christol-de-Rodières, returning via the hamlet of Grange de la Dame.

This walk takes you from the small village of Salazac to the neighbouring village of Saint-Christol, before returning via the south. The route alternates between sections on the DFCI tracks that are relatively exposed to the sun and more shaded sections. It offers a beautiful view of Salazac and the Rhône valley.

Hike from the village of Saint-Michel-d'Euzet that takes you on a loop around the village of La Roque-sur-Cèze (ranked among the most beautiful villages in France). The village of La Roque is perched on a rocky outcrop and is bordered by the Cèze. The area is a natural site for swimming; near the village are the Cascades de Sautadet falls.

Short loop starting from the Chartreuse de Valbonne through the Bois de Sagné and its oak trees.

Loop around the village of Saint-Gervais in the Gard. A short, easy and varied walk, fragrant in spring with thyme, heather and rosemary lining the paths. The route passes through vineyards, olive groves and national forest.

Set off to explore the Concluses Canyon, carved into the limestone by the Aiguillon. A complete change of scenery in a wild and unspoilt setting, this hike is best enjoyed in summer when the Aiguillon is almost dry, but expect to get your feet wet. The hike takes place in the rugged riverbed, so you will have to climb frequently, accompanied by the sound of cicadas.

There is a lot to see in Lussan. Start with the clear waters of the narrows at the Portail des Concluses and carry on to the Pierre Plantée standing stone. You will be delighted by a breathtaking view of the Cévennes and will cross the scrubland on varied terrain to the Table des Turcs dolmen. Eventually you arrive at La Lèque, which is an ideal spot for a lunchbreak. The last few kilometres are on wide lanes, leading back to the first section of the route.

Update on 20 February 2025. Following Jacba's comments on 19 February, for which I am sincerely grateful, I would like to make an update that will make this hike less difficult and more attractive. At (10), take the path on the left, which is fully marked in yellow. This good path joins the one that leads to (14). Take it on the right to make a round trip to the Arches du Morgue. Retrace your steps and continue on the initial path of this hike, passing by (14) and (14).

A very beautiful walk, partly along the river, leading to the exceptional site of La Maladrerie, situated opposite the Cirque de la Madeleine. Ruins of an ancient monastery, probably dating from the 12th century, with an uncertain origin. Fact or myth of the Knights Templar? Follow the yellow markings on the ground carefully between (6) and (7), and avoid this route during periods of high water in the Ardèche.
