Starting from Échemiré, a partner municipality of Baugé-en-Anjou, you’ll head towards Cheviré-le-Rouge via the Menhir du Coq and through beautiful forests, before returning to your starting point – almost due south – along lovely footpaths and small country lanes.

A circular loop in the footsteps of Rouget le Braconnier
A bit of history: the story of Rouget the Poacher began in 1854. A poacher who defied the imperial gendarmes, he one day wounded one of them by shooting him. Rouget was then hunted down by the imperial forces.
Hidden in the village and the surrounding woods by locals devoted to his cause, he was betrayed by his own cousin before being brought to trial. Sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour in French Guiana, he died there in 1858.

Welcome to Soucelles, where you can discover the rich heritage of this part of Anjou on foot: the banks of the Loir with La Roche Foulques and its chapel, the Soucelles Forest and its 300-year-old chestnut tree, and the lower valleys of Anjou via the Grande Prairie, the first clandestine airport during the Second World War.Please note: during periods of high water, the banks of the Loir and the Grande Prairie are impassable or even flooded. It is possible to follow a departmental road, but the route loses much of its interest.
La Levée en Oule from Villevêque
Set off on a circular walk between the banks of the Loir, the forest and the countryside to discover the lower valleys of Anjou. Accessible to all, this route takes you through lush green countryside and discreet heritage sites, following the tracks of an old railway line.

This hike in the heart of the Basses Vallées Angevines offers an immersion in the unspoilt landscapes of the Basses Vallées Angevines. The route, approximately 12 km long, invites you to discover the natural and heritage riches of the banks of the Loir (Engrenage-Moulin, Museum-castle, Fontaine de Craon, etc.). Between shady forest paths, poplar groves and trails along the river, the gently sloping walk is almost entirely on footpaths, cycle paths and bridleways.

Depending on the season, you may spot our famous goganes or hear the call of the corncrake. This walk offers the chance to discover a variety of heritage sites: a mill, a castle, chapels, a wash house, and more.
The start at Oules from Villevêque
On the banks of the Loir, Rives-du-Loir-en-Anjou – a charming village with a rich heritage and landscapes that evoke the gentle charm of the Anjou region – is the ideal setting for a family walk. After following the banks of the Loir to the east of Villevêque, the route heads inland to follow the route of the former Angers–La Flèche railway line.

This undeniably charming route (marked with brown rectangles) offers magnificent views along the Loir River, including the fortified mill of Mervé, the façade of Gallerande Castle, the village of Pringé with its church (frescoes), its manor house reflected in the lake below, and its wash house.
At the end of the route, the Church of St-Martin de Luché and the former Priory bring the walk to a close.
All these highlights make up for the sometimes slightly monotonous sections, which nevertheless offer some beautiful panoramic views.
Amidst the Loire, vineyards, hedgerows and orchards in Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne
This easy route will allow you to explore the varied landscapes around Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne. It alternates between open countryside and woodland along paths and roads with very little traffic. This route follows a Yellow route, then the GR®3 before branching off from it. During high water, the path along the Loire may be inaccessible.

This route will take you through the Malicorne countryside, then introduce you to the architectural heritage of this small town. Owned by local lords, the mills of Malicorne passed into the hands of Jean Loyseau around 1747, who founded the first earthenware factory.

Perched atop its hill, at an altitude of over 100 metres, Blou bears the marks of its age and invites visitors to remember that it was one of the first inhabited settlements in Anjou. Further down the valley, the River Suzon winds its way through Neuillé, a village with equally timeless charm. All around, woods, fields and market gardens serve as a reminder that this is a rural area where life is peaceful.

This walk, mainly along small roads, begins at the charming Priory of Saint-Georges-des-Sept-Voies, set in beautiful green surroundings. You will then see a fine example of a Bollée wind turbine and finally be able to visit the Hélice Terrestre de l’Orbière, a monumental sculpture in a troglodytic site.

There are numerous views of Montasabert Castle and the agricultural plain, which is dominated – particularly in May and June – by artichoke fields.
