Start from the car park of the magnificent 16th-century fortified farm, Les Mésangères.
(S/E) Head towards the entrance to the estate and turn left just before you reach it. Walk alongside a pond on your right, then go round the field on your left and arrive at a straight, cross-country path.
(1) Turn left and continue to the next junction.
(2) Head right, ignore two turnings on the right and continue along a track suitable for vehicles until you reach a road.
(3) Turn right, heading towards Beech Trees 1 to 3. At Beech Tree 3, keep to the right and reach thesecond fork.
(4) Turn left at the hairpin bend onto the track. Follow this track, enter the woods and reach a fork.
(5) Turn right and, after riding straight on for a good kilometre, you’ll reach a multi-way junction.
(6) Carry on along the forest track to the left until you reach a road.
(7) Cross it and carry on straight ahead onto Route du Chêne. Follow this road to the junction at La Sagerie 2, after skirting the edge of the woods.
(8) Turn left onto the track, which is closed to all motorised vehicles except local residents. At the next junction, turn right and enter the woods. Ignore a track on the right and carry on straight ahead to the edge of the forest.
(9) Carry on along the small road until you reach the junction at the end of the Chemin de l’Abricot. Continue straight ahead and follow this path all the way to the departmental road, at the hamlet of La Croix des Musses.
(10) Turn right (D35) and proceed with caution. Pass house number 35 and you’ll soon reach the four-way junction.
(11) Turn left and, at the end of the tarmac, turn right. You’ll soon reach the old railway line (which is due to become a cycle path by the end of 2024). Follow it to the left, cross a road and carry on straight ahead. Walk alongside the fields on your right until you reach the end at the edge of the woods.
(12) Through the hedge on the left, find a passage through an old metal gate and head straight on to the car park (S/E).
