Start in Juigné sur Loire, on the Martigneau road, then Impasse des Cordiers, in the cemetery car park, where the war memorial is located.
Please note for groups: there are two car parks close to each other, one with the entrance to the cemetery and the other with the war memorial. When you are in one of the car parks, you cannot see the other.
(S/E) Cross the D 751 carefully, then continue straight ahead along Venelle de l'Abreuvoir, which slopes slightly down towards a small stretch of water (the Vieux Louet).
(1) Turn left, walk along the water on your right and Saint-Germain Church on your left. Continue to a crossroads.
(2) Turn right onto Chemin du Pont du Magasin. At the fork, continue along the same path, slightly to the right.
Note: it is also possible to take the path on the left, which leads directly to the Loire, but there may be work being carried out to reinforce the embankment, which may prevent pedestrian access (this was the case when I did the walk). This may also be the case in sections along the entire length of the embankment. If a section is under construction, it is always possible to bypass it by taking a parallel path a little further from the Loire.
(3) At the second Y-junction, turn left towards the Loire until you reach a picnic area.
(4) Turn right to follow the Loire on your left. Continue like this for about 2.5 km. About halfway along these 2.5 km, where a tarmac road joins from the right, there is a ford allowing you to cross to Belle Île with a suitable vehicle. After this ford, you will see houses on the right, then a path leading off to the right towards other houses. Continue until you see a ruined building on the left, on the banks of the Loire.
(5) About 50 m from this building, turn right to leave the Loire and head back inland. Ignore the first crossroads and continue until you see a road on the right lined with trees on both sides.
(6) Turn right onto this tree-lined path. Continue for about 1.5 km until you reach a T-junction. First turn left then right and continue to the next T-junction, passing under a power line. At this junction, turn left and continue until you cross the Vieux Louet.
(7) After crossing the river, turn right to follow it. Continue, ignoring the path that branches off to the left towards Parc des Garennes. The path gradually moves away from the Vieux Louet and leads to another crossroads.
(8) At this crossroads, turn right to return to the pond you passed at the start of the route and at the foot of the Venelle de l'Abreuvoir.
(1) Turn left to return via this lane to the original car park (S/E).
