Champrenault walks

A circular walk from Champrenault to Villy-en-Auxois featuring some interesting heritage sites. In Champrenault, a renovated castle, an unusual church and ‘nazoirs’. Further on, the Roman road from Sombernon to Alésia and Villy-en-Auxois, the Sainte-Barbe Chapel and the wash house.

A lush walk through fields and woods, starting from Bussy-La-Pesle, which winds its way through the outskirts of Blaisy-Bas and on to Drée, a pleasant village in fine weather with its stream and old houses built from stones from the former castle.

This route, starting from Trouhaut, climbs up Mont Tasselot and continues to La Rochotte, passing at the foot of several wind turbines. It then returns towards Fromenteau, passing close to another group of wind turbines, before descending back to Trouhaut. N.B. It is also possible to do the wind turbine route without going via Trouhaut, for example by starting from Fromenteau.

This short circular walk starting from Trouhaut climbs up Mont Tasselot via Vau-Mercy and descends via the Creuse. Alternatively, you can take a shortcut and descend via Videmont.

A bucolic stroll to the sources of the Seine, passing by a pond designed by a contemporary Swiss artist and the ruins of a former 12th-century hermitage.

Uncey-le-Franc is a small country village, formerly a Templar landmark. This short hike forms a circular route starting in front of the church at an altitude of 350 metres.

This path crosses the Channel-Mediterranean ridgeline via the "mountain", into which the 4km Blaizy tunnel is bored. Along the way, discover the XV ventilation shaft, the panorama of the Ouche valley and the Baulme la Roche cliff.

This route, starting from Ancey, will allow you to discover this picturesque village and will take you from the mysterious, wooded Combe Piron to two viewpoints:- the Combe Piron viewpoint, overlooking the forest of the combe, Notre-Dame d'Étang and Mont Afrique,- the Roche Aigüe viewpoint, which offers views of the Ouche valley, the village of Mâlain, the cliffs of Baulme-la-Roche and the surrounding countryside. On the way back, you can explore the Roche Aigüe limestone quarry, whose walls are pierced by two deep tunnels closed off by gates to protect the bats from curious humans.

Discover several major attractions – Combe aux Mammouths, Saut à la Carpe and Creux Percé – from the village of Pasques. Not too much elevation gain and long stretches through the forest to shelter from the sun or wind.

A walk that takes you off the beaten track to natural and unusual sites, as well as to ten abandoned dwellings. These are places sometimes steeped in history, dating from the Early Middle Ages or the 11th to the 14th centuries. This walk would never have come about without the kind permission and involvement of the local councillors and members of the archaeological section of the Foyer Rural de Pasques, who have worked for eight years to showcase the sites described.

An unusual and pleasant forest walk, made easier by the local council and residents of Pasques, leading to the Abîme du Creux Percé and the Poste du Président, as well as to the discovery of a few abandoned dwellings scattered here and there; places sometimes steeped in history dating from the Early Middle Ages or the 11th to 14th centuries.

A circular route starting from Agey, which crosses the Veluze forest, offering glimpses of a few vestiges of the past, and continues through Vaux-Les-Grenant and Remilly-en-Montagne.

The rocky spur of Roche d'Anse is the highest point of Plain de Suzard (532m). Like a bow, a natural arch completes the southern entablature, reminiscent of the cliff at Étretat.

In the forest of Velars-sur-Ouche, you’ll reach Mont Aigu amidst moss-covered hills, creating the impression of being in a spectacular world. At the Roche d’Anse viewpoint, a panorama unfolds over the surrounding plains and forested hills. You won’t want to miss taking a photo of the Anse just below. You’ll pass the 15th-century Château de Montculot. The building was unfinished when Lamartine acquired it in 1760. In the village of Urcy, you can have a picnic at the wash house near the church. On Rue Lamartine, a local sculptor exhibits unique works. Through the woods of Combe Roulé and then Combe à la Feuille, you’ll reach Arcey, where the houses have been beautifully renovated. Through the Arcey forest via the Jean Sage Trail, then the Bois de la Chapelle aux Chiens, you’ll arrive at the Burgundy Canal. Return to Pont de Pany by following the canal. If you wish, there is a pub near the station car park.

Following a disused railway line before skirting the Burgundy Canal between Pont de Pany and Sainte-Marie-sur-Ouche, the route takes us on a circular route through the Liau Forest, passing through Arcey,

Combe d'Arvaux, known as Combe aux Mammouths, with its Cave aux Loups.

The Gironde is a stream that flows into the Ouche at Barbirey-sur-Ouche (Côte-d'Or). Its raging waters have carved out a narrow valley where rocky cliffs alternate with green slopes. The trail starts at the Jaugey wash house, classified as a "remarkable monument", and climbs up to the Roche de s'Laye balcony. It then continues to the Roche de l'Eau balcony and the charming hamlet of La Montagne. It then returns to the Jaugey slope to climb up to its balcony before reaching La Table du Druide.

The route winds its way through hills and valleys, linking two buildings that were the hub of village life until the early20th century. The Jaugey wash house (in the hamlet of Barbirey-sur-Ouche) is a crossroads for numerous trails: the Tour de Barbaricum, the Tour des cinq balcons sur la Gironde, links to the Tour des Roches de Veluze, the Tour de Marigny, and the Traversée des 5 vallées. The wood-fired oven at Grenant-lès-Sombernoon is lit on public holidays. .

A circular route starting from the medieval town of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, allowing you to explore, in part, the valleys of the Ozerain and the Oze and discover some of the restored historic buildings there. Make sure to set aside some time to wander around Flavigny and soak up its rich and varied cultural heritage.

From the village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, a magnificent medieval village, head for a picnic at the Château de Bussy-Rabutin, which you will enjoy visiting. Then return via Alise-Sainte-Reine, a key site of the Gallic Wars, and pay a visit to Vercingétorix.

This walk passes through the Bois de Ruère, where the “Table du Druide” viewing platform offers panoramic views over the Gironde valley and the Roche-Chèvre massif. Next come the ruins of Marigny Castle. Don’t miss, after the drawbridge, the remains of the gatehouse, the dovecote and the chapel. Once you’ve crossed the Ouche at Saint-Victor, the return route follows the towpath of the Canal de Bourgogne.

This walk between two villages in the Ouche Valley, listed in the Côte d’Or PDIPR, is a variation on the Tour de Marigny. It bypasses the section running from the Table du Druide to Marigny Castle to head directly to Auvillard. This circular loop thus halves the distance, making for an easy walk of less than 7 km, comprising a slightly uphill outbound leg to Saint-Victor through woodland and meadows, and a flat return to Barbirey between the Ouche and the Burgundy Canal.

Nice walk, starting from Barbirey-sur-Ouche, on both sides of the Gyronde valley, to the old Oizerolles farm and back via the Marigny hills.

This day-long hike will take you on a journey of discovery along the Burgundy Canal and its structures, as well as the valleys and plateaus of the Auxois region. As you climb higher, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views.

A circular route around Lamargelle, to discover this beautiful village on the banks of the Ignon, the Combe Saint-Seine and the sweeping landscapes of this secluded valley. This route showcases the village, set in the beautiful valley of the Ignon with its mills, wash houses and castle. It also takes you through the valleys linked to the golden legend of Saint-Seine, who founded the abbey of the same name, and whose abbots owned Lamargelle Castle.

A lovely hike around the Combe du Leuzeu, a hotspot of the Resistance in Côte d'Or. A battle between the Resistance fighters and the Vichy militia saw the former emerge victorious in July 1944.
